Crossroads Theatre Co-Founders to Reunite, 2/9

Ricardo Khan and L. Kenneth Richardson, who co-founded Crossroads Theatre Company in 1978 as young Rutgers graduates, will reunite for the first time in 25 years at a special kickoff event for 'Legacy Month' on Sunday, Feb. 9, celebrating the theater's history and enduring contributions to black theater and the American cultural landscape.

On Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Castillo Theatre in New York City, members of the Awards Committee of the Otto Rene Castillo Awards for Political Theatre gathered for the announcement of the 2013 Otto Award honorees. The 15th annual awards celebration will be held on May 19, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Castillo Theatre.

Ebony Repertory Theatre (ERT - Founder/Producer Wren T. Brown), now in its fifth year, announced today, that they will present the Los Angeles Premiere of FRATERNITY by internationally acclaimed, award-winning playwright/screenwriter Jeff Stetson (Keep the Faith and And the Men Should Also Gather). Henry Miller (James Baldwin's The Amen Corner) is set to direct this riveting award-winning political drama. FRATERNITY will play October 3 - 28, 2012, with the official press opening on Friday, October 5 at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center (4718 W. Washington Blvd.) in Los Angeles.

Harlem9 presents 48 HOUR IN HARLEM - a twist on the traditional 24- hour play festival. The inaugural event of 9 producers, bringing together 6 playwrights, 6 directors, and 18 actors to re-conceive classic plays from the African-American Diaspora. Harlem9 aims to explore the past, present, and future of black culture and our rich history of storytelling, thus serving to contribute to the re-invigoration of the Harlem community. 48 HOURS IN HARLEM's final presentation is Sunday, August 14, 2011. During the month of June, New York City experienced a groundbreaking theatrical event. Woodie King, Jr.'s New Federal Theatre, in association with the Castillo Theatre on West 42nd Street and Harlem's National Black Theatre on 125th Street, present 25 plays by the greatest Black playwrights of all time. They are the pioneers of the Black Theatre Movement from the 1960s and up until the beginning of the new century, as well as those who are carrying on the work of giving dramatic expression to the Black experience.

Emmy Award winner Glynn Turman (The Wire), Tony nominee Rocky Carroll (Navy NCIS) and John Cothran, Jr. (Black Snake Moan) are set to head the cast when L.A. Theatre Works presents Ceremonies in Dark Old Men by Academy Award nominee Lonne Elder, III. Five performances take place January 14-18 at the Skirball Cultural Center, where they will be recorded to air on LATW's nationally syndicated, weekly radio theater series, The Play's The Thing.
