SOPAC Adds Thirteen New Shows to April Lineup!

Live shows are in full bloom at the South Orange Performing Arts Center! With more than a dozen performances on the docket this April, see everything from a Ukrainian quartet to acoustic singer-songwriters and inspiring dancers. Just in time for Jazz Appreciation Month, experience the supergroup SFJAZZ Collective. Don't miss two Louisiana-influenced guitarists and a psychedelic Grateful Dead likeness.

Guitar Great Tommy Emmanuel is Coming to SOPAC

Tommy Emmanuel has achieved enough musical milestones to satisfy several lifetimes. At age six, he was touring Australia with his family band. By 30, he was a Rock lead guitarist playing stadiums. At 44, he was named a Certified Guitar Player by his idol, music icon Chet Atkins. Today, he plays sold-out shows everywhere from Nashville to Sydney.

Legacy On The Lawn Produces Second Summer Show, SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN

Bluegrass music and the lovable Sanders family are coming to Legacy's lawn! This feel good musical, Smoke on the Mountain will be performed outside, where audience members can enjoy professional, live entertainment while maintaining a safe distance from others.

Crystal Gayle Digitally Reissues 'A Crystal Christmas'

Grammy®, AMA, ACM and CMA award winning country music singer and Grand Ole Opry member Crystal Gayle has digitally reissued her 1986 holiday album, A Crystal Christmas, for the first time ever. Like he did on You Don't Know Me, Crystal's son Christos Gatzimos, returned to the studio and remastered his mother's collection of traditional Christmas compositions for digital release. The newly remastered album is now available at Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play and Amazon.

Acclaimed Guitarist Tommy Emmanuel Announced At The Center For The Arts

Two-time Grammy nominee Tommy Emmanuel, one of Australia's most respected guitarists, once again brings his passionate and infectious live show to Pepperdine University's Smothers Theatre at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11 and Thursday, December 12 at the Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts. This show marks Emmanuel's eight performance at Pepperdine.

BWW Review: L.A. Theatre Works's THE MOUNTAINTOP Climbs to New Heights at George Mason University

Martin Luther King, Jr. declared 'I've been to the mountaintop' almost exactly 50 years ago on April 3, 1968. His words, a confident assessment on the future of the 1960s Civil Rights Movement, echo with the same power as when he bellowed them all those years ago. Dr. King never made it to the promised land, having been assassinated only one day after his 'Mountaintop' speech. His spirit, however, lives on beautifully in Katori Hall's play The Mountaintop at George Mason University's Center for the Arts on Saturday, April 14 as part of Los Angeles Theatre Works's 38-city touring production.

Kravis Center To Present THE MOUNTAINTOP

L.A. Theatre Works has announced the casting of stage, film and television stars Karen Malina White and Gilbert Glenn Brown for their upcoming tour of the Olivier Award-winning hit play, The Mountaintop. As the nation honors the 50th anniversary of his passing, the fictional tale of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s last night alive comes to the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts as a part of the Center's P.E.A.K. Series April 20 - 21, 2018.

This perennial audience favorite tells the story of a pirate named Frederic, who at the age of 21, has completed his apprenticeship and is ready to seek his fortune as an upstanding citizen. Opens Nov. 11, 2016.

National Portrait Gallery Stages First Exhibition Of Howard Hodgkins And Claude Cahun

The National Portrait Gallery is to stage the first exhibition to pair the works of contemporary artist Gillian Wearing with the innovative early-twentieth century photographer Claude Cahun as part of a spring season that also includes the first exhibition devoted to the portraits of the British painter Howard Hodgkin, it was announced today, Thursday 29 September 2016.
