This theatrical treat about a Viennese womanizer and his amorous trials and tribulations runs tonight, January 9 to February 10, 2013 in Tarragon Theatre's Mainspace (with previews beginning January 1).

Barter Theatre has announced the hiring of Katherine Foreman as its new director of advancement. Foreman will lead a four-member advancement team responsible for fundraising through individual, corporate, foundation and grant support.

Rehearsals started this week for Tarragon Theatre's world premiere of This is War, written by acclaimed Tarragon playwright-in-residence Hannah Moscovitch and directed by Artistic Director Richard Rose. Barter Theatre welcomes Amanda Leslie as its new director of marketing. Barter administrators say Leslie's previous experience as managing director for North Carolina Stage Company in Asheville, NC, will bring new fresh ideas and great skills to the region.

While Barter Theatre remains financially sound, officials said the donation goal of $475,000 must be met between now and December 31, 2012. 'This amount is necessary to support the high-quality productions, community services and educational programs for which the 79-year-old theatre has become famous," said Richard Rose, producing artistic director.

La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts kicks off its 2012-13 Programs for Young Audiencesseries with Magik Theatre's Treasure Island. This 60-minute, exciting musical adventure is recommended for audiences ages 4 and up.Performances are Sunday, October 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Tonight, September 29th at 7:30pm, the Ridgefield Playhouse Film Society - DOCUMENTARY FILM SERIES presents ESCAPE FIRE: THE FIGHT TO RESCUE AMERICAN HEALTHCARE a film that tackles one of the most pressing issues of our time. The award-winning documentary, produced and directed by filmmakers Matt Heineman and Susan Froemke.

FREUD'S LAST SESSION will feature a post-show talkback series in October to discuss Love, Sex, the Meaning of Life and the Existence of God at the Mercury Theater, 3745 N. Southport in Chicago. Winner of the 2011 Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Play, the Midwest Premiere of FREUD'S LAST SESSION has received rave reviews and three Jeff Award nominations, including Best Play. The production has been extended multiple times and is now in final weeks, ending its successful Chicago run on November 11. Written by Mark St. Germain, under the direction of Tyler Marchant, the production stars local theater legend, Mike Nussbaum (Emmy, Drama Desk Award, four-time Jeff Award winner, and recent Sarah Siddons Award recipient), as "Sigmund Freud" and Coburn Goss (Vigils at the Goodman Theatre, Dead Man's Cell Phone at Steppenwolf Theatre Company and Off Broadway When the Messenger is Hot at 59E59) as "C.S. Lewis."

A distinguished panel of medical experts - Erin Martin, M.D., Pamela Ross, M.D., and Richard C. Niemtzow, M.D., Ph.D - physicians featured in the documentary 'Escape Fire', will be on hand for the Q&A along with Victoria Veltri, JD.LLM, Health Advocate for the State of Connecticut. Beginning tonight, September 14, the story is based on the Disney film, features music by Phil Collins and stars Sean Campos as Tarzan and Holly Williams as Jane, both from Barter's 2008 'Disney's Beauty and the Beast.'

After 60 performances under the stars in High Park, Canadian Stage's 30th-anniversary production of A Midsummer Night's Dream set an all-time high attendance record with close to 30,000 audience members visiting the High Park Amphitheatre to see the show. The 2012 production also holds the highest-ever single night attendance for the venue, with 1,268 audience members on the hill for the closing night performance on September 2.
