Margaret Thatcher Projects to Close Nan Swid's IN FORMATION this Weekend
by Arielle Ozery
- Oct 14, 2013
Margaret Thatcher Projects hopes that you can join us for the final week of In Formation, the gallery's first solo presentation of works by artist Nan Swid. Swid's recent explorations of rectilinear forms primarily executed in encaustic or polymer paint over specifically chosen substrates, antique books, legal ledgers or time worn utilitarian boxes all support the artist's discourse in color, surface and structure. This is not an art based entirely on formalism. Creating rich tactile surfaces over familiar or recognizable supports the artist creates works that generate an enigmatic state, a place of visual privacy where painting, sculpture and collage intersect in the most dynamic way.
