I never thought of myself as especially gossipy. Surely there are at least two other Michaels in this burg who set the gold standard at reporting that sort of stuff. But when ace press agent Richard Kornberg, the man who convinced half the city that Ben Brantley loved In My Life, says, 'Come here, Michael. You're gossipy,' I pay attention. So after handing me tickets for Friday night's performance of Absinthe, Kornberg wanted to make sure I knew that Daniel Bedingfield would be in the audience that night.
The Joyce Theater will invigorate the New York dance scene this fall with an eclectic and exciting line-up, and will offer a special ticket price of $10 for front row seats.
Summer 2009 will be like none other at The Joyce Theater! With debuts from four (out of eight) companies including a hilarious Australian duo and a sensational contemporary ballet troupe, in addition to internationally renowned favorites returning to The Joyce, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
The Joyce 2009 season kicks off on February 3 with Buglisi Dance Theatre presenting two different programs that will include three NYC premieres and one world premiere. Ronald K. Brown's Brooklyn-based Evidence, A Dance Company returns to The Joyce this year with an exciting NYC premiere, and Doug Varone and Dancers - back for its 10th Joyce season - also will feature a NYC premiere. Following them is the audience favorite Savion Glover, for a three-week season of electrifying tap set to Flamenco music. Then Ballet-Tech, under the Artistic Direction of Joyce founder Eliot Feld, will present two programs of post-classicism work with its 'Mandance Project.'
Rick Miramontez, the New York and Los Angeles-based publicist, will join OPR/Origlio Public Relations, the Manhattan-based publicity firm, as Managing Partner; the firm will soon become O & M--Origlio/Miramontez Co.
