Just last night, he New Group just honored Founding Artistic Director Scott Elliott and celebrated its 20th Anniversary season. Scott Elliott is an award-winning stage director, filmmaker and the founding Artistic Director of The New Group, where he recently directed the critically acclaimed revival of David Rabe's Sticks and Bones. At The New Group, he has directed world premieres by Thomas Bradshaw, Ayub Khan Din, Francine Volpe, Erika Sheffer and Tommy Nohilly; and the world premiere of the 2010 musical The Kid (Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical; Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award nominations for Outstanding Musical). Other credits include The New Group's The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie starring Cynthia Nixon; David Rabe's Hurlyburly; and numerous collaborations with Ayub Khan Din, Wallace Shawn and Mike Leigh. Broadway credits include Present Laughter, Barefoot in the Park, The Threepenny Opera, The Women and Three Sisters. This spring at The New Group, he directs the world premiere of The Spoils, written by and featuring Jesse Eisenberg.

Before appearing in THE SOUND OF MUSIC LIVE! on NBC in 2013, Tony Award-winner Laura Benanti made her Broadway debut in the same show in 1998. The New Group has announced additional casting and production dates for the world premiere production of The Spoils, a new play written by and featuring Jesse Eisenberg, directed by Scott Elliott. Kunal Nayyar ("The Big Bang Theory") joins Jesse Eisenberg in this production, which marks the third show in The New Group's current 20th Anniversary Season. Previews begin May 7, in advance of an Official Opening Night on Tuesday, June 2. On March 13, 2015, The New York Pops continues its 31st season with two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster in her solo debut at Carnegie Hall. Among other musical standards, Foster will reprise her unforgettable performances of "Anything Goes" and "I Get a Kick Out of You" from her Tony Award-winning turn as Reno Sweeney in the Cole Porter classic. She will also offer her own take on "Down with Love," made famous by Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand. Foster will be joined by special guest artists Joshua Henry and Megan McGinnis, who will sing the showstopper "Let It Sing" from Violet, and the touching "Neverland" from Peter Pan.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that a stage version of The Exorcist is currently in the works, and Tony nominee Sean Mathias is on board to direct the project. The play, adapted by John Pielmeier, enjoyed a run at Los Angeles' Geffen Playhouse in 2012, starring Richard Chamberlain and Brooke Shields. Production details have not yet been announced.
