In Things We Want, three brothers reunite in their inherited childhood home. Forced to live together again as adults, they struggle to redefine themselves as they pursue the things they want in life. While facing their own personal obstacles, a drastic shift in dynamics occurs when a sexy young neighbor suddenly enters their lives. This dark comedy by Jonathan Marc Sherman paints an insightful and bittersweet picture of the illusions people have about what makes them happy and what is within their power to change.

Things We Want enjoyed its world premiere in an extended engagement at The New Group, as the first production of the company's 2007-2008 Season (October 22-December 23, with Opening Night on November 7, 2007). Directed byEthan Hawke, the original production featured Paul Dano, Peter Dinklage, Josh Hamilton and Zoe Kazan, who return to The New Group in the company's 20th Anniversary Season for this one-night-only benefit reading on January 5, 2015.

The New Group opened its current 2014-2015 Season with David Rabe's Sticks and Bones, a recent Critics' Pick by The New York Times and Time Out New York, directed by Scott Elliott and featuring Richard Chamberlain, Nadia Gan, Holly Hunter, Morocco Omari, Bill Pullman, Ben Schnetzer and Raviv Ullman, playing in a limited Off-Broadway engagement through December 14. Up next in the company's season is Joel Drake Johnson's Rasheeda Speaking, directed by Cynthia Nixon and featuring Tonya Pinkins and Dianne Wiest, to be followed in Spring 2015 by the world premiere of The Spoils, a new play written by and featuring Jesse Eisenberg, directed by Scott Elliott. The New Groupproductions take place at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street).
