Currently in previews, the world premiere of Ngozi Anyanwu's new play 'Good Grief' will open at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre on Sunday, March 5 at 6:30 p.m. Directed by Patricia McGregor, Anyanwu also performs in 'Good Grief,' which runs through March 26, 2017. In November, City Opera presented the New York premiere of Tobin Stokes' Iraq War opera, Fallujah. Last month City Opera's new production of Leonard Bernstein's Candide, directed by Broadway legend Harold Prince became a highlight of the New York season, with a run that was extended from six to ten sold-out performances.
Young opera soprano Golda Berkman of Los Angeles will be guest artist at Coachella Valley Symphony's 'Opera to Broadway - A Musical Spectacular' on Sunday, March 5. Now in its 24th year, the Coachella Valley Symphony has named the 2016-2017 season 'It's Magic' with Maestro John Mario conducting each concert. Golda made her professional opera debut at just 17 last November performing the role of Lauretta in Redlands Opera Theatre's production of Puccini's comedy, Gianni Schicchi.

In honor of the Metropolitan Opera's 50th Anniversary at Lincoln Center, the company has released an exclusive 22-CD compilation of historic performances from the 1966-67 season. The set, called The Inaugural Season: Extraordinary Met Performances From 1966-67, will be available November 18, 2016, in the Met Opera Shop as well as online, and released worldwide on December 16, 2016 distributed through Warner Classics Label Services.
