La Jolla Playhouse is proud to announce Backyard Renaissance Theatre Company as its 2018/2019 Resident Theatre.

The Globe is happy to announce that the Globe for All Tour will continue to bring shows to the community in 2018, with support provided by Theatre Forward's Advancing Strong Theatre grant program. Following the Globe engagement of Karen Zacarias's hilarious comedy directed by Edward Torres, Native Gardens will travel June 28 through July 1 to four of our community partner venues for free performances in South Bay, Lemon Grove, Otay Mesa, and Oceanside. Developed in the 2017 Powers New Voices Festival, it runs through June 24 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, and then hits the road!

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces that Take Wing and Soar/Harlem Shakespeare Festival, Tweiss Productions, The American Renaissance Theatre Company, Open Hydrant Theater Company, Prism Stage Company and Looking Glass Theatre are the most recent companies to join the TRU Audition Weekend, as well as Richard Jordan of Richard Jordan Casting and film/tv casting director Angela Citrola of Citrola Casting! Rubicon Theatre presents a timely and trenchant production of Shakespeare's tragedy KING LEAR as the centerpiece of the company's 20th Anniversary Season. Directed by Co-Founder James O'Neil, the production features a 20-member cast led by acclaimed actor and company memberGeorge Ball, who has starred in previous Rubicon productions of All My Sons, Man of La Mancha, and Jacques Brel… (New York, L.A., and international companies of the latter).

Following sold-out UK tours in 2016 and 2017, and a critically acclaimed hit run at the Arts Theatre in the West End in 2017, The Wipers Times will once again tour the UK this Autumn. It opens at Nottingham Theatre Royal on 28 August 2018, and visits Oxford, Exeter, Malvern, Leicester, Eastbourne and Birmingham before returning to the Arts Theatre in London for a 7 week season. The San Diego Theatre Critics Circle has announced the nominations for its 16th annual Craig Noel Awards for Theatrical Excellence, which will be presented in a ceremony on Feb. 12, 2018, at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation in San Diego.

TARRYTOWN, a world premier musical shows that you never know what will cause you to lose your head, in this clever and entertaining musical about love, friendship, and relationships. Presented by the Backyard Renaissance Theatre Company is playing through Sunday, December 17th at the Diversionary Black Box Theatre.

Medicine Show Theatre presents The Bedbug, a biting romp through the Soviet bourgeoisie complete with philistines, party fat cats and profiteers. Visiting artist Elizabeth Ruelas, Artistic Director of New Renaissance Theatre Company, directs this reading as part of Medicine Show's acclaimed Season of Russia, December 18th and 19th.

The Old Globe presents the first show of its 2017-2018 Season, the world premiere musical Benny & Joon, with book by Kirsten Guenther, music by Nolan Gasser, and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein. Based on the beloved 1993 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture written by Barry Berman and Leslie McNeil, Benny & Joon is directed by Jack Cummings III, Artistic Director of New York's Transport Group.

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the first show of its 2017-2018 Season, the world premiere musical Benny & Joon, with book by Kirsten Guenther, music by Nolan Gasser, and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein.

Following its critically acclaimed and sold-out European premiere at Finborough Theatre in April/May 2017, Stage Traffic's production of Late Company, by the award-winning playwright Jordan Tannahill, will transfer for its West End debut at Trafalgar Studios 2 for a strictly limited run from 21 August - 16 September 2017, with press night on Thursday 24 August.

As part of the Finborough Theatre's celebrations of Canada's 150th birthday, Canadian playwright Jordan Tannahill, 'the hottest name in Canadian theatre', will debut his play, Late Company, at the Finborough Theatre, for a strictly limited season from 25 April - 20 May 2017, with press nights on 27 April/28 April.

The waiting is over! After 16 years of waiting in the wings, Nobel Prize winner Samuel Beckett's absurdist masterpiece WAITING FOR GODOT returns to San Diego stages with the fruitlessmoon theatreworks 2016 production at White Box Live Arts. Godot was presented at the Lyceum Theatre in 2000 and produced by The Renaissance Theatre Company.

The Old Globe will present WHEN IT COMES with free public workshop presentations, marking the culmination of Mike Sears's 2015 San Diego Foundation Creative Catalyst Grant. Inspired by writer Sears's real-life experiences, the piece was developed in collaboration with a team of local artists: four San Diego actors, puppetry by Animal Cracker Conspiracy (Iain Gunn and Bridget Rountree), music by Clinton Davis, and direction by Sears's wife, Lisa Berger.

Jay Michaels, a director/producer and public relations specialist, will direct the new musical version of THE ADDING MACHINE, book and lyrics by Fran Handman and music by Sheldon Gartner, to be produced by John Chatterton, founder and executive producer of the Midtown International Theatre Festivals.

Concrete Timbre (www.ConcreteTimbre.com) is a composer-driven performance collective which aims to add bold interdisciplinary performances to the contemporary music canon by creating opportunities for composers to work in multidisciplinary settings that often defy categorization. The group's '4 Wars' by Mark Farnen, directed by Ann Warren, is an interdisciplinary exploration of the universal themes that exist amongst four different stories from four different countries, showing a progression of people struggling to create social change in the year 1968 in the face of unrest. The world premiere will be presented by Theater for the New City's Dream Up Festival September 13 to 20.

Between Us Productions will present the World Premiere of Sander Gusinow's The Fairer Sex, directed by Samantha Lee Manas. It begins performances on July 27th and will celebrate its opening night on July 28 and run through August 2nd at Theatre Row Studio Theatre. Tickets are $18 and available at www.Telecharge.com. According to the Daily Mail, Kenneth Branagh's ROMEO AND JULIET has found its 'Mercutio' in Sir Derek Jacobi, who appeared alongside the play's star cross'd lovers -- Lily James and Richard Madden -- in Branagh's new CINDERELLA film. ROMEO AND JULIET is Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company's fourth production in its inaugural season at the Garrick, beginning October 17.
