BWW Review: Collide Theatrical Dance Company Delivers a Deliciously Dark New Take on DRACULA through a Collision of Dance, Music, and Theater

Collide Theatrical Dance Company is now in their fourth season of creating 'original Broadway-style jazz dance musicals.' As a theater geek who doesn't know much about dance but loves to watch it, Collide provides an accessible and theatrical way to get into dance. I've seen all of their productions over the last four seasons, and their newest creation DRACULA may just be my favorite of them all. Collide is at their best when they let the dancing do the talking, as they do here, telling this modernized story of the iconic Dracula strictly through movement and music. A live band accompanies this fantastic troupe of dancers as they perform innovative and evocative choreography to a wide variety of popular songs reinvented to fit the story. Created by Artistic Director and choreographer Regina Peluso and director Joshua Campbell, this DRACULA truly is a perfect collision of dance, music, and theater to create a new and exciting form of storytelling.

Collide Presents ROMEO AND JULIET, Brooklyn Style - Tonight

COLLIDE presents a modern-day version of Shakespeare's classic love story. Set in Brooklyn in the year 2000, the bare-knuckle world of New York City politics has created a blood feud between the Montague and Capulet families that has endured for generations, always simmering just below the surface and occasionally erupting into public view, sometimes with tragic consequences. The production features eleven professional dancers, two vocalists, original Shakespearean text and a four-string quartet playing popular music hits from artists such as Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, and U2.

Photo Flash: First Look at History Theatre's THIS SIDE OF PARADISE

History Theatre presents the regional premiere of a new musical about the lives and works of St. Paul's original "it" couple, F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. As glittering emblems of the Jazz Age, their romance reflected the era during which they lived: highs and lows, boom and bust, a thrilling rise and a devastating crash. This Side of Paradise, which premiered off-Broadway in 2010, is seen from the point of view of Zelda at the age of 39, looking back on her life with Scott using music and dance to capture both the joy of their romance and their struggles for artistic identity and fame. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!
