DUTF 2015 Finalists Announced!

Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) has chosen 28 diverse finalists for its 13th Annual season to run on the Mainstage at HERE in SoHo from May 13-30, 2015. This year, DUTF attracted some of the best new and emerging playwrights who hail from all over the country. After several weeks of review by the DUTF team and Artistic Director Reg E. Gaines, Tony-nominated for Bring in da Noise Bring in da Funk, the finalists are:

Christina DeCicco, Sean McDermott & More Set for Broadway Artists Connection's Fundraising Event for CAT; Colin Cunliffe to Host

The Broadway Artists Connection (BAC) has announced that it will dedicate its annual fundraising event to the Creative Arts Team (CAT) Youth Theatre. The song and dance filled evening featuring over a dozen Broadway artists will take place on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, the Lower East Side's cultural landmark for more than 35 years and will be hosted by Broadway Veteran Colin Cunliffe (Pippin, Addams Family, Cry-Baby).

Downtown Urban Theater Festival Announces 2014 Season Finalists

In spring 2014, the Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) will return for a much-anticipated 12th annual season and from 140 submissions, DUTF has narrowed it down to 29 finalists. The decisions were extremely difficult due to the amazing plays received from gifted emerging writers who hail from across the U.S. and internationally from Canada, Egypt, Iran, Israel, United Kingdom, Rio de Janeiro and Romania.

Digable Arts Festival Presents KOOKSPEAK This Weekend

Today and Sunday, Oct. 12 and 13, the Monroe Center for the Arts in Hoboken, N.J., will come alive with the work of hundreds of artists and several musical and theatrical performances as part of the Digable Arts Festival.

On Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12 and 13, the Monroe Center for the Arts in Hoboken, N.J., will come alive with the work of hundreds of artists and several musical and theatrical performances. 'Kookspeak,' by Summer Dawn Hortillosa, a series of monologues by characters who live inside their heads, will make its Hoboken debut at the festival with two performances.

The Loew's Presents Before, After and Always, March 23-24

On March 23 and 24, 68 Productions will present Summer Dawn Hortillosa's "Before, After and Always," a one-act play for two actors divided into three parts. The romantic comedy will bepart of STAGEfest at the Landmark Loew's Jersey Theatre in Journal Square. It will be staged in an unconventional performance space, the upstairs left lobby of the historic movie palace.

'Superheroes Are the Writers' in Downtown Urban Theater Festival 2013, Now thru 3/16

For its 11th Annual season, Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) declares, 'our superheros are the writers' through a groundbreaking campaign that features vibrant and ingenious illustrations of the playwrights by Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez of Studio Edgardo. This much-anticipated season will keep audiences on The Edge of their seats with theatrical works that effortlessly swing through urban landscapes ranging from Brooklyn, USA to the Ukraine to intimate stories about Oscar Wilde to hip hop alien abduction ... and much more. DUTF rolls into HERE in SoHo, NYC for three weeks, today, February 27 through March 16, 2013.

The Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) presents two showcase performances of "A Train" as part of its 10thAnniversary season on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at HERE in SoHo, NYC. A TRAIN, a new work under development by DUTF, is a coming-of-age story about a group of teenagers growing up in modern day NYC. It is directed by Reg E. Gaines, Tony-nominated writer of Bring in da Noise Bring in da Funk, and features the music of Dennis Diamond and Corey Glover, lead singer of the Grammy Award-winning band Living Colour.

THE MARIA PROJECT Arrives at 59E59 Theaters in March

59E59 Theaters (Elysabeth Kleinhans, Artistic Director; Peter Tear, Executive Producer) welcomes Pure Projects, Inc, in association with Uncle Frank Productions, with the Off Broadway premiere of THE MARIA PROJECT, written and performed by Marcella Goheen and directed by Larry Moss.
