San Francisco Playhouse to Open 12th Season with IDEATION

San Francisco Playhouse launches its twelfth season with the world premiere of Ideation, winner of the 2014 prestigious Glickman playwriting award. Ideation, written by Aaron Loeb (First Person Shooter, Abraham Lincoln's Big, Gay Dance Party) and directed by Josh Costello, broke box office records and received critical acclaim during its development process as part of the 2014 San Francisco Playhouse 2014 Sandbox Series.

Aurora Extends THE LETTERS for Second Time Through June 8

Due to popular demand, Aurora Theatre Company announces that it will add a second extension week of performances of John W. Lowell's suspenseful psychological thriller THE LETTERS, the first fully staged production in the company's second stage performance space, Harry's UpStage.

Aurora Theatre Company presents its first fully staged production in the company's second stage performance space, Harry's UpStage. Award-winning Bay Area auteur Mark Jackson returns to the company to direct this sixth addition to the season, the Professional Bay Area Premiere of John W. Lowell's suspenseful psychological thriller THE LETTERS, featuring Beth Wilmurt (The Eccentricities of a Nightingale) and Michael Ray Wisely (The Arsonists). THE LETTERS plays today, April 17 through May 25 at Harry's UpStage, located in the Nell and Jules Dashow Wing at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley.

Due to popular pre-sale demand, Aurora Theatre Company announces that it will add an additional week of performances of John W. Award-winning Bay Area auteur Mark Jackson (The Arsonists, Salomania) returns to the company to direct this sixth addition to the season, featuring Beth Wilmurt (The Eccentricities of a Nightingale) and Michael Ray Wisely (The Arsonists). THE LETTERS now plays April 17 through June 1 (added performances: Wednesday, May 28, 8pm; Thursday, May 29, 8pm; Friday, May 30, 8pm; Saturday, May 31, 8pm; Sunday, June 1, 2pm) at Harry's UpStage, located in the Nell and Jules Dashow Wing at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley. Although the old miser may balk at the cost of extravagant special affects and lovely costumes, or even at the time-honored message of hope and love, it's impossible to avoid laughing when the unseen Ghost of Christmas Present knocks a cup of punch from an overconfident young man's hand. Or consider the confetti that shoots out into the audience and the snow that gently falls down to cheerful faces.

Adult Swim Renews NEWSREADERS for Second Season

Adult Swim announced today the season two pickup of Newsreaders, an absurd take on the television newsmagazine, from the creative team behind the two-time Emmy(R)-winning series Childrens Hospital. Production on the new season begins in Los Angeles, CA in January 2014.

San Francisco Playhouse to Present Aaron Loeb's IDEATION, 11/14-12/7

The San Francisco Playhouse enters its fifth season of the Sandbox Series of new plays with the return of Aaron Loeb (First Person Shooter, Abraham Lincoln's Big, Gay Dance Party) and his newest play, Ideation. Award-winning Bay Area auteur Mark Jackson (Salomania, Metamorphosis, Salome, Miss Julie) returns to Aurora Theatre Company to direct British playwright Alistair Beaton's elegant new translation of THE ARSONISTS, Max Frisch's classic comic parable about appeasement (sometimes known as Beidermann and the Firebugs or Fire Raisers). Featuring Dan Hiatt, Tim Kniffin, and Michael Ray Wisely, along with Kevin Clarke, Tristan Cunningham, Gwen Loeb, Dina Percia, and Michael Uy Kelly, THE ARSONISTS plays tonight, April 5 through May 12 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley.

Aurora Theatre Company Raises More Than $200,000 at Aurora Borealis

Berkeley's acclaimed Aurora Theatre Company, now celebrating its 21st season, lit up the night on Saturday, March 23 with an evening of heavenly wining and dining at Aurora Borealis, the company's 15th annual benefit, held at The Claremont Hotel in Berkeley. Over 218 guests attended the fundraising fete honoring Robert B. Hetler (Berkeley), and co-chaired by Ellen Levine (Oakland) and Jacquelin Ewing (Walnut Creek); the event raised upwards of $200,000. Funds raised at Aurora Borealis will support Aurora Theatre Company's outstanding live performances, innovative education program, and the Global Age Project new works program. Individual tickets to the invitation only event sold for $295, with tables going for $3000-$7,500.

Photo Flash: First Look - BODY OF PROOF's 'Mob Mentality,' Airing 3/12

On BODY OF PROOF's upcoming episode, titled 'Mob Mentality,' when the son of a New York mob boss is found shot to death in an alley, Tommy, Adam and Megan investigate, only to be shot at themselves. Back in the morgue, the mobster threatens that he will make sure whoever killed his son won't live to see another sunrise. When an early suspect is gunned down, Megan and her team realize they have to solve the case before more bodies pile up. 'Body of Proof' airs TUESDAY, MARCH 12 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.
