Rhythm-A-Ning Entertainment will release the second installment of Thelonious Monk's 1967 Paris concert recordings, featuring the full nine-piece ensemble on tracks including "Blue Monk" and "Oska-T.
This particular version, which appeared on Relaxin’ with the Miles Davis Quintet, was recorded in October 1956 at Rudy Van Gelder’s studio in Hackensack, NJ, and features Davis on trumpet, Coltrane on tenor sax, Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums.
Pianist and composer Randy Weston will perform with his African Rhythms Quartet on Saturday, July 7th at 7:00 PM, at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center.
