The Dallas Opera Presents DEATH AND THE POWERS, Now thru 2/16

The Dallas Opera is proud to present the second production in the 2013-2014 “By Love Transformed” Season: DEATH AND THE POWERS (The Robots' Opera) by acclaimed American composer and inventor Tod Machover of the MIT Media Lab with a libretto by former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, one of America's greatest living poets.

HERE LIES LOVE to Return to the Public's LuEsther Theatre in March 2014

t was announced today that Joey Parnes Productions and EMURSIVE (Randy Weiner, Arthur Karpati, andJonathan Hochwald, Principals) will bring The Public Theater's production of David Byrne and Alex Timbers' smash hit musical, Here Lies Love, back to The Public Theater's LuEsther Hall (425 Lafayette Street, New York City) for an open-ended commercial run. Under the direction of Alex Timbers,Here Lies Love played a critically raved-about, sold-out run last year at the same space, which was extended by popular demand four times. This new production will begin performances on Monday, March 24, 2014, and will officially open in early April. Here Lies Love was conceived by David Byrne, and features lyrics by Byrne, music by Byrne and Fatboy Slim, additional music by Tom Gandey and J Pardo, and choreography by Annie-B Parson. Randy Weiner's newest genre-crossing, environmental experience, Queen of the Night, which began performances on December 31, 2013, has announced an extension from its original six week limited run at the legendary supper club, Diamond Horseshoe (235 W. 46th Street, NYC) with an official opening night on Saturday, February 1, 2014. Randy Weiner's newest genre-crossing, environmental experience, Queen of the Night, which began performances on December 31, 2013, has announced an extension from its original six week limited run at the legendary supper club, Diamond Horseshoe (235 W. 46th Street, NYC) with an official opening night on Saturday, February 1, 2014.

Dallas Opera Launches New Art Song Series Today

The Dallas Opera has announced that, through the generosity of The Titus Family, a brand-new recital series has been created to showcase well-established singers in programs dedicated to preserving the fine art of “art song.” The series launch will take place tonight, January 4, 2014 in Dallas City Performance Hall (2520 Flora Street, Dallas) at 7:30 p.m.

Diamond Horseshoe Reopens Tonight with QUEEN OF THE NIGHT

Billy Rose's legendary supper club, Diamond Horseshoe, reopens today, on New Year's Eve, in its original subterranean location beneath midtown's Paramount Hotel 75 years after it first opened its doors and forever changed New York nightlife. To celebrate its reemergence, Randy Weiner's newest genre-crossing, environmental experience, Queen of the Night, begins performances tonight, for six weeks only, with an official opening night on Sunday, February 2, 2014.

THE KING'S WINTER MASQUERADE Set for McKittrick Hotel Tonight

The McKittrick Hotel (530 W 27th Street, New York, NY), home of Sleep No More, will once again celebrate New Year's Eve amongst several rooms of The McKittrick, tonight, December 31st. The King's Winter Masquerade, which begins at 10:30 p.m. immediately following that evening's performance of Sleep No More, will feature specially-created theatrical and music performances throughout several rooms of The McKittrick, as well as full open bar, live entertainment, and Sleep No More-inspired surprises.

The premier offering of the newly reopening supper club, Queen of the Night features a cast of thirty-three multi-genre performers from the world of circus, modern dance, theater, nightlife, and magic.

McKittrick Hotel Announces New Year's Eve Offerings

The McKittrick Hotel (530 W 27th Street, New York, NY), home of Sleep No More, will once again celebrate New Year's Eve amongst several rooms of The McKittrick, on Tuesday, December 31st. The King's Winter Masquerade, which begins at 10:30 p.m. immediately following that evening's performance of Sleep No More, will feature specially-created theatrical and music performances throughout several rooms of The McKittrick, as well as full open bar, live entertainment, and Sleep No More-inspired surprises. King, Punchdrunk has crafted a dining experience in the spirit of Sleep No More to compliment Chef King's menu, which is a modern take on classic American and British fare. Those dining at The Heath can therefore expect hearty cuisine with an ambiance-both on the plate and in the room-as only Punchdrunk could imagine. The McKittrick Hotel, Home of SLEEP NO MORE, Celebrates Halloween

The McKittrick Hotel (530 W 27th Street, New York, NY), home of Sleep No More, will celebrate Halloween with two nights of costumed revelry for the premiere after-parties for the Temple Pictures film The Curse of the Mummy featuring Maximillian Martel and Violet DeWinter, stars of the film who also frequent the hotel on a nightly basis. The McKittrick-as it does annually-has conceived an entirely original Halloween celebration, this year an homage to classic Hollywood horror flicks with bottomless libations, live music, surprise guests DJs, and specially-crafted entertainment inspired by classic movie monsters, reimagined as only The McKittrick can. The evening will also feature, for guests who so desire, an Egyptian-inspired dining experience by Chef R. L. King.

Thousands Attend Dallas Opera Simulcast at Kylde Warren Park, Dallas, TX

The Dallas Opera, in partnership with Klyde Warren Park and with support from The Dallas Arts District, is delighted to announce the success of their first-ever artistic collaboration: a live simulcast of one of the most popular operas in the repertoire, Georges Bizet's 1875 masterpiece, CARMEN, starring the gorgeous and gifted French mezzo-soprano Clémentine Margaine in her American debut!
