Chicago Opera Theater Announces Their 2011 Spring Festival Season

On March 25, 2010, General Director Brian Dickie announced Chicago Opera Theater's (COT) 2011 Spring Festival Season: the Midwest Premiere of Tod Machover's Death and the Powers, the Chicago Premiere of Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Medea (Médée), and 'HE/SHE' featuring Leoš Janá?ek's The Diary of One Who Disappeared (Zápisník zmizelého) and Robert Schumann's A Woman's Love and Life (Frauenliebe und Leben).

EMURSIVE (Randy Weiner, Arthur Karpati, and Jonathan Hochwald, principals) announced today that the New York premiere of Punchdrunk's Sleep No More has extended its run through Saturday, June 25, 2011. This decision follows on the heels of last week's unanimous rave reviews, which have created overwhelming demand for tickets. The production began performances on Monday, March 7 at The McKittrick Hotel (530 W 27th Street, New York, NY), and officially opened on Wednesday, April 13.

So begins DEATH AND THE POWERS, a groundbreaking new opera created by Tod Machover and his Opera of the Future Group at the MIT Media Lab, which receives its North American premiere at the American Repertory Theater. Performances take place at the Cutler Majestic Theater in Boston on March 18 (press opening), March 20, March 22, and March 25.
