Paul Jost Debuts At Mezzrow Jazz Club

Paul Jost, the unique vocalist and arranger often described as a 'passionate storyteller', performs at Mezzrow Jazz Club, 163 W 10th St in New York, with his quartet today, August 21, 8 and 9:30 p.m. shows. Paul is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger but it is his work as a vocalist that makes him a standout. Performing music from his soon-to-be-released album, 'Simple Life,' he is joined by his quartet, the musicians on his album … Jim Ridl-piano, Dean Johnson-bass and Tim Horner-drums. Laury Shelley Performs Tribute To Michel Legrand

Celebrated recording artist/vocalist/songwriter Laury Shelley commemorates her years as the long-time vocalist and duet partner of Oscar and Grammy-winning composer Michel Legrand, with a tribute concert honoring her mentor. The Music Never Ends: Laury Shelley Sings Michel Legrand, will take place Monday, September 24th, 8pm and 10pm, at Chicago's legendary Jazz Showcase, Dearborn Station, 806 S. Plymouth Ct., Chicago. Laury will be backed by some of Chicago's premier jazz musicians: Ben Lewis on piano, Eric Hochberg on bass, Bob Rummage on drums and Grammy Award winning harmonica master Howard Levy. This must-see event takes place for two performances on one special night only. There is a $15 cover charge for these performances. A Midsummer Night's Jazz Party Comes to the Bickford Theatre

Dan Levinson's Midsummer Night's Jazz Party returns to the Bickford Theatre as part of Summer JazzFest for one night only on Thursday, August 2 at 7:30 pm. For his annual appearance at the popular festival, Levinson dispenses with music scores and stands for a jam session in the tradition of the legendary jazz clubs of the forties and fifties such as Eddie Condon's and Nick's. Joining the popular clarinetist will be Jon-Erik Kellso on trumpet, Harvey Tibbs on trombone, Mark Shane on piano, Rob Adkins on bass, and Paul Wells on drums. And as customary, the concert will be preceded by a food truck picnic.

McAninch Arts Center, located at 425 Fawell Blvd. on the campus of College of DuPage (COD), presents the 2018 Lakeside Pavilion Free Outdoor Summer Series. Programming runs July 12-Aug.10 and includes a Thursday evening Family Movie Series, the Thursday evening WDCB Live Jazz Concert Series and a Friday evening Pop Music Series. One of the highlights of the Friday evening series promises to be the July 20 New Philharmonic pops concert, which will be broadcast on Facebook Live for the second year in a row.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents The Igor Butman Quintet straight out of Moscow for the beginning of their US summer tour. Igor Butman leads the Igor Butman Quintet, with five of Russia's top jazz soloists. Since 1999, the band has become Russia's hottest jazz unit.

Keyboardist David Garfield was nineteen when he got his start playing alongside influential bebop jazz trumpeterFreddie Hubbard. But opportunities came quickly for him in contemporary jazz as well as in R&B and pop, which guided the direction of his now five-decade career away from his roots. Straight-ahead jazz has remained in his core and he's longed to return “home” thus to launch his prolific multi-volume, multi-genre “Outside the Box” collection, Garfield will drop his first straight-ahead jazz album, “Jazz Outside the Box,” on March 23via his Creatchy Records label.
