Pianist Shai Wosner To Perform Ullmann's 'The Coronet' with Wolfgang Holzmair at 92Y, 1/23

Pianist Shai Wosner will perform songs based on a theme of war by composers Ullmann, Mahler and Debussy in the Kaufmann Concert Hall at the 92nd Street Y on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. Part of the 92nd Street Y's multi-disciplinary series Will to Create, Will to Live: The Music of Terezin, the recital program includes a rare performance of Viktor Ullmann's setting of Die Weise Von Liebe und Tod Des Cornets Christoph Rilke for speaker and piano with baritone Wolfgang Holzmair, which the composer wrote from within the Nazi holding camp Terezin before being deported to Auschwitz. Mr. Wosner will also perform songs from Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn sung by Mr. Holzmair interspersed with four Debussy piano pieces, 'Piece pour l'oeuvre du 'Vetement du blesse,' 'Berceuse heroique,' 'Elegie,' and 'General Lavine'-eccentric from Preludes, Book II.

New Amsterdam Singers Present WITH A LILY IN YOUR HAND, 5/26

The New Amsterdam Singers, led by Music Director Clara Longstreth, will present a program of American works from 1978 to 2009 written in the Romantic style, and entitled With a Lily in Your Hand-the title of a recent piece by Eric Whitacre, which the chorus will perform.

Past and present performers of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Spring Awakening come together for a one night only event MONDAY DECEMBER 8th at IRT (154 Christopher Street) with a performance (at 7pm & 10PM) of music inspired by the Rainer Maria Rilke poem Sonnets to Orpheus, Part Two, XII. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Actors Fund and IRT Theater's Artist In Residency program. In the spirit of the holiday season past and present, the Spring Awakening casts - both present and past - perform much of their favorite music. The theme of the show reflects the poem's tone of wanting the changes that come into our lives. The show will also feature a sneak peak into each cast member's Spring Awakening audition.
