Baruch Performing Arts Center (BPAC) will host award-winning choreographer Gabrielle Lamb'sPigeonwing Dance in the premiere of an ensemble work that includes a new solo created for guest artist PeiJu Chien-Pott, a principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company. The program also includes Lamb's Tessellations (2016), performed by the Joffrey Ensemble. The one-night-only performance, presented in association with the CUNY Dance Initiative, will take place on Today, November 18, at 7pm, at Mason Hall at the Baruch Performing Arts Center.

The recent onslaught across the country of violence and brutality against Black people have left many African Americans feeling they are suffocating. Other people also feel battered by daily reports of intolerance and strife. In presenting Harrison David Rivers' play "Sweet," Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre (NBT) invites all audiences to #TakeABreath, a rare reprieve from the headlines to explore a work of hope and promise. Featuring the talented Raelle Myrick-Hodges in her New York City directorial debut, the production has its first preview on Wednesday, October 19, and opens Saturday, October 22, running through Sunday, November 20. NBT's entire 48th season explores the theme "In Pursuit of Black Joy."

Seven choreographers/companies will present world premieres. Bessie Award-winning performer Caleb Teicher will premiere his full-length Variations, set to Glenn Gould's iconic recording of Bach's "Goldberg Variations." Gabrielle Lamb will present a new group work inspired by artist Soghra Khurasani's woodblock prints, Chloe Arnold's Apartment 33 debuts, and Dzul Dance's new work, presented during Hispanic Heritage Month, explores the idea of ritual as a transformative experience via pre-Hispanic rites of passage. The fall season also includes premieres and performances by CDI artists Azul Dance Theatre, Lauren Cox/Humans Collective andMAWU, and showings by mwest dances, luciana achugar, and Urban Bush Women.
