Leyla McCalla Releasing One Off Single On NOLA's Special Man Industries

Jim James Announces Full Band Headline Tour, Deluxe Vinyl Reissue

Jim James has announced plans for a spring headline tour. The Jim James Presents Uniform Distortion tour - which sees James backed by his longtime live band - begins May 1 at Charleston, SC's Charleston Music Hall and then continues through the month. James - who has only just wrapped up a series of intimate European headline shows - will bring his first full band performances of last year's Uniform Distortion along with selections from his entire catalogue to U.S. festivals at Atlanta, GA's Shaky Knees Music Festival (May 4), Manchester, TN's Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival (June 15), Telluride, CO's Telluride Bluegrass Festival (June 20-23), and Quincy CA's High Sierra Music Festival (July 4-7).

The iconic KPM Music Library catalogue has been made available to download and stream in its entirety for the first time after being fully digitised.  

Minnesota Orchestra Releases New Recording Of Mahler's Second Symphony

The Swedish label BIS Records is releasing its third album of the ongoing Mahler recording series in collaboration with Music Director Osmo Vänskä and the Minnesota Orchestra—a recording of Mahler's Second Symphony, Resurrection, also featuring soprano Ruby Hughes, mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke and the Minnesota Chorale. The album will be released on disc in the U.S. and Canada, and digitally worldwide, on February 1, 2019, but will be available in advance at Orchestra Hall and through the Minnesota Orchestra's website, minnesotaorchestra.org, beginning December 14, 2018.

Craft Recordings has announced the release of Feelin' Right Saturday Night: The Ric & Ron Anthology,in celebration of the 60th anniversary of pioneering New Orleans R&B label Ric Records and its sister label Ron Records. The CD and digital formats are due out on December 7th, following the exclusive double-LP package releasing on Record Store Day Black Today on November 23rd. The compilation features classics from Professor Longhair, Irma Thomas, Eddie Bo and Al Johnson, along with the Joe Jones hit 'You Talk Too Much' and two previously unreleased tracks-a demo of 'Tipitina' by Professor Longhair and 'Good Enough For Me' by Eddie Bo. New liner notes by GRAMMY®-winning producer Scott Billington round out the package.

First Nation Composer Jeremy Dutcher on Polaris Prize Shortlist for Best 10 Records in Canada

Jeremy Dutcher is a Toronto-based performer, composer, and classically trained operatic tenor. He is also a member of indigenous community, Tobique First Nation, and released his debut album, Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa (Our Maliseet Songs), on April 6th, 2018. He is now on the shortlist for the Polaris Music Prize for the best Canadian album of 2018, and an 11-member jury will decide a winner on September 17, 2018. Dutcher's new album was also just named one of Noisey's '40 Essential Albums You Probably Missed So Far in 2018' list.
