BET Networks is set to premiere 'Q85: A Musical Celebration for Quincy Jones,' a star-studded evening that celebrates the life and legacy of the icon. The special was taped in September at the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, and will premiere on BET Networks on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 8:00PM ET.

Grammy Award-winner and two-time Emmy nominee Steve Tyrell celebrates his 14th anniversary performing in the Cafe Carlyle's revered holiday slot with an all-new show, Holidays at the Carlyle, November 27-December 31. Holidays at the Carlyle will feature selections from Steve Tyrell's newly expanded Back to Bacharach album, his 2018 #1 album, A Song For You, as well as various favorites from the Great American Songbook including songs he has performed in major motion pictures, and of course, holiday classics.

Deborah Grace Winer was certainly on the right track last night as she hosted her latest creative musical adventure 'New York: Big City Songbook' at the new Birdland Theater. Deborah is well known to New Yorkers for the imaginative and quality presentations she produced for the Lyrics & Lyricists Series at the 92Y, which she led for 9 seasons. It's difficult to construct a show for New Yorkers about New York, we've seen it all…haven't we? but this smart show with vocalists Klea Blackhurst, La Tanya Hall and Nicolas King (real New Yorkers because as Deborah pointed out they come from everywhere) offered a kaleidoscopic vision of life in the city.

Smooth notes that sing, the beat of the drum that pulsates, and moan of emotion from the horn create the American-made music of jazz. Fans, devotees, and music lovers will relish The Jazz Eclectic Concert Series Vol. 4 to be performed at Myron's Cabaret in the Smith Center on Nov. 27.

Acclaimed Verve recording artist Brenna Whitaker will make her San Diego debut at Martinis Above Fourth on November 28, and her Hollywood debut at Catalina Bar & Grill on November 29, with her holiday show In the Spirit of Christmas, it was announced today by Chris Isaacson Presents.

The award-winning PBS series Independent Lens today announced its Winter and Spring 2019 slate, a series of documentary films that take viewers on a cross-country journey through modern America. From renowned film veterans including Eugene Jarecki (The King) and David Sutherland (Marcos Doesn't Live Here Anymore) to first-time filmmakers Anna Moot-Levin and Laura Green (The Providers), Denali Tiller (Tre Maison Dasan) and Ciara Lacey (Out of State), the lineup offers a fresh and up-to-the-minute look at America, from the rural south to urban Baltimore, from the vineyards of Napa to the Louisiana bayou.

GRAMMY® winners Norah Jones, P!nk, Mark  Ronson, and Chris Stapleton; GRAMMY nominees Leon Bridges and Lauren Daigle; and singer/songwriter Shawn Mendes will perform at the 2019 MusiCares® Person of the Year tribute concert honoring Dolly Parton on Feb. 8. GRAMMY winner Parton will close the evening's performances. GRAMMY-nominated musician Greg Phillinganes will be the evening's musical director. More guest performers will be announced shortly.

The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica presents Amy Keys, on Friday, December 7 at 8:00pm. Amy Keys is the fourth evening of blackbox @ the edye, which transforms The Edye into a club featuring up-and-coming jazz and blues artists.  The series is curated and hosted by The Reverend Shawn Amos; he and his house band perform at select shows during the season as well.   

Grammy and Emmy Award winner ?Harry Connick, Jr. announced today that he will share his iconic piano skills by joining Playground Sessions, the #1 rated app-based piano instruction software to teach more people how to play the piano. A longtime proponent of music education, Connick will offer lessons to a global audience that both demystifies the process of learning to play the piano while also encouraging players and showcasing the power of technology to share knowledge.

Eva Cassidy, the versatile, much-missed vocalist praised for her emotional range and interpretive skills, receives a unique reimagining as her poignant vocal performance of the classic song 'Autumn Leaves' is paired with the backing of the London Symphony Orchestra. This inspired musical context was created by isolating Eva's 1996 live vocal performance recorded at the Blues Alley Jazz Club in Washington, DC and combining it with a new orchestral arrangement by the team of four-time Emmy Award winner William Ross and Grammy winner Jochem van der Saag.

Xiuhtezcatl (pronounced Shoe-Tez-Caht), young and progressive hip-hop artist, made it into the public eye as an activist speaking out on critical issues including climate change and Indigenous rights. He also performed and supported the Standing Rock movement. When he first started to write bars, he initially meant them to be a creative outlet for his activism.  Xiuhtezcatl recalls “I saw this album serving as a call to action for the world. Calling my generation to overcome the limitations and boundaries our broken world has placed on us. Calling on our communities to break free from the oppression and injustice that we face.” But as the album and tracks progressed the artistic process took hold, and became less about his work as an activist, and more of a reflection of Xiuhtezcatl's growth and self-discovery as a young man and an artist. Xiuhtezcatl drops his powerful debut album, Break Free, out now and available everywhere.

Recent Grammy Award-winners Third Coast Percussion return to Liquid Music with new works by two incredible musical minds: the iconic American composer Philip Glass and the pop polymath Devonte Hynes, a.k.a. Blood Orange. Glass's new work, written for Third Coast Percussion and co-commissioned by Liquid Music, is his first ever for percussion ensemble. Hynes, who has also become a Glass collaborator in recent years, brings his "dense modern pop with roots in hip-hop, R&B and NYC culture" (The Guardian) to an entirely new sound world in his piece for Third Coast Percussion.

Having toured the albums from Hooky's previous bands for over eight years with multiple tours of the United States and Canada, Peter Hook & The Light have now reached the late Eighties and early Nineties albums of New Order, 'Technique' and 'Republic' which they will come to perform across fifteen stateside dates in October and November 2019.

Carnegie Hall today announced additional guest artists for A Night of Inspiration, an evening of uplifting music on Saturday, December 15 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. Under the direction of acclaimed producer, composer, and music director Ray Chew and co-produced with his wife and business partner, Vivian Scott Chew, the exciting program features an all-star roster of artists including Regina Belle, Shirley Caesar, Koryn Hawthorne, Adrienne Bailon Houghton, Israel Houghton, Kenny Lattimore, Ledisi, Patricio Molina, Iyanla Vanzant, Bebe Winans and The String Queens.
