Legendary actor, director, singer & choreographer Maurice Hines is set to play The Triad (158 West 72nd Street) on Saturday 8/25 at 7pm. Hines is the brother of the late dancer Gregory Hines and best known for starring in Frances Ford Coppola's 'The Cotton Club', Broadway's 'Sophisticated Ladies,' 'Eubie' 'Jelly's Last Jam' & 'Uptown. Justin Kauflin Announces New Album 'Coming Home' Produced By Quincy Jones and Derrick Hodge

Master Drummer Denny Seiwell, best known as a founding member/drummer of Paul McCartney's post Beatles group Wings. Originally a jazz artist, Seiwell was recruited by Paul McCartney to join Wings. His drumming can be heard on the original recording of 'Live And Let Die,' also the theme song for the 1973 epic James Bond film. His credits include the 'RAM,' 'Wildlife' and 'Red Rose Speedway' albums, which also featured the hit 'My Love.'

Netflix today announced QUINCY, a powerful new documentary about the legendary Quincy Jones, directed by Jones's daughter Rashida Jones (Angie Tribeca, Hot Girls Wanted) and Alan Hicks (Keep On Keepin' On). QUINCY is produced by Paula DuPré Pesmen and executive produced by Jane Rosenthal and Berry Welsh from Tribeca Productions and Adam Fell from Quincy Jones Productions. The film will launch globally on Netflix on September 21 and have a limited theatrical release.

Two-time Emmy Award winning composer, lyricist, conductor, pianist, and producer Glen Roven, has passed away at the age of 60.

The award-winning PBS series Independent Lens opens its new season on Monday, October 29 with Young Men and Fire, a richly personal look at the lives of a western firefighting crew during one challenging season. Margin Films announced that the first season of the first Asian American stand up television series, Comedy InvAsian, produced by Koji Steven Sakai, Quentin Lee and Viva Pictures' Victor Elizalde, will stream on Hulu exclusively in North America on August 1, 2018.

Time is Los Angeles-based singer songwriter, producer and multi instrumentalist Louis Cole's third album - a casual but addictive blend of quickfire, hook-laden electrofunk bullets and wistful, soft-focus balladry - and it's compelling. 'A lot of it is little thoughts, that I made into big songs... blasts of inspiration that I was lucky enough to receive,' Cole explains. 'But it all comes back to my mission to create deep feelings through music,' he says of his debut Brainfeeder outing, set for release August 10th, 2018.

On his brand-new sophomore release, Fusiolicious, Turkish Cypriot bassist Oytun Ersan has an all-star band on hand to present seven cooking original tunes. Lovers of new theatre will gather this August for an advance look at tomorrow's hits at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's 2018 New Works Festival at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre. This unique festival offers audiences an extraordinary opportunity to experience new plays and musicals in their early stages of development, and hear about the creative process in a "Meet the Artists" panel discussion. With multiple performances of each work, playwrights and composers are able to rewrite scenes, add or delete songs, revise and refine, allowing audiences to return and watch the exciting evolution of brand new pieces of American theatre.

While its original production, as most Broadway shows go, offered the expected big sets, first-rate costumes, and impressive production values, the 2015 Tony Award-winning revival production of THE COLOR PUPLE---currently slaying audiences for a week-long stop at Orange County's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa through June 24---is decidedly more subdued and scaled-down by comparison, allowing the songs, the story, and the cast performances to shine on their own merits instead. The resulting show is a powerful, uplifting one, bathed in a loving, spiritual embrace that shines a light on the struggles, the insecurities, the passions, and the tenacity of African-American women living in the early decades of the 20th Century. I can say without hesitation that this revival production is an excellent way to experience this beautiful, touching, and ultimately triumphant musical.

During this solo appearance, 'Rosey Chan Live in Concert', Chan will play contemporary classical, electronica, jazz and spoken word material, demonstrating her unconventional mastery of diverse musical styles and traditions.
