The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz today announced the 2013 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition and All-Star Gala Concert will take place at the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, September 16. The 2013 Competition and Gala is made possible through generous support from Cadillac, the presenting sponsor for the weekend.

The T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research has announced that six-time GRAMMY winner and Multi-Platinum selling artist, Carrie Underwood will be honored at its 38th Annual Honors Gala on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 with the 2013 Artist Achievement Award. The gala will be held at the legendary Cipriani in New York. Underwood will join other honorees which include Jennifer Breithaupt, SVP of Marketing CITI (Spirit of Music Award), Brandon Steiner, CEO of Steiner Sports (Humanitarian of the Year Award), John Sykes, President of Clear Channel Entertainment Enterprises (Lifetime Music Industry Achievement Award) and Target Corporation (Spirit of Excellence Award). Celebrity performers and presenters will be announced throughout the summer.

To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington, TV One will air Sing Your Song, the critically-acclaimed documentary profiling revered African American singer, actor and activist Harry Belafonte, on Sunday, August 25 at 11 am ET. This marks the basic cable network premiere of the 2011 documentary, which charts Belafonte's life as a rising black Hollywood star amid the social and political racism plaguing 1960s America, and his emergence as a figurehead of the civil rights movement.

Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), the leading global music rights organization that represents more than 600,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers in all genres of music and more than 7.5 million works, is partnering with New York real estate company Silverstein Properties, Inc. to host the 3rd annual concert series of free summer music performances in the park in front of Silverstein Properties' 7 World Trade Center (located at 250 Greenwich St.) in downtown Manhattan. The music festival, known as '7@7' is taking place on seven Fridays from July 12th through August 23rd, at 12:00 p.m. with an eclectic lineup of talented performers taking to the BMI stage.
