This year's Wawa Welcome America festival, a weeklong July 4 celebration, will honor the 40th anniversary of The Philly POPS and its contributions to the community through its music education program and concert series honoring the military, veterans, and first responders.

BODY TRAFFIC is a well-established multi-themed contemporary dance company, made up of eight incredibly strong, amazingly agile dancers. They are known world-wide, but call Los Angeles their home. Their 3-night appearance at The Wallis Annenberg marks the conclusion of their 10th successful international tour, as well as the debut of a new work, entitled 'A Million Voices,' which is being world-premiered at their first-ever appearance at The Wallis.

Already in previews, the latest Culture Clash project BORDERTOWN NOW runs through June 24, 2018 at the Pasadena Playhouse. We had the chance to query director Diane Rodriguez on her history with the nation's premier Chicano/Latino performance trio, as well as, on some of the projects she's currently involved with - Center Theatre Group, the NEA and BORDERTOWN NOW.  

Schimmel Center will present Tony and Pulitzer Prize nominee Anna Deavere Smith's Obie Award-winning solo performance, Notes From the Field, for one weekend only on Friday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Today, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in preparation for a two week run at the Royal Court in London. The production is directed by Leonard Foglia and features original music composed and performed by bassist Marcus Shelby who joins Ms. Smith on stage.

Bailey Contemporary Arts (www.baileyarts.org) in Pompano Beach is proud to present Elevators by Felix Jackson, Jr. This exhibition takes a critical view of hip hop and attempts to illustrate and expand upon it as if it were a modern-day mythology with afro-futurist trappings. Elevators is on display in the Blooming Bean Coffee Roasters West Gallery through July 28, 2018. The free artist's opening reception is June 1, 2018 6-9 pm.

The Historic Ali Cultural Arts is proud to present an exhibition featuring the paintings of Haitian visual artist Jai D and the photographs of David I. Muir. In celebration of June being African-American music month, works on display will feature paintings of music icons including Prince, Diana Ross, Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G. and concert photographs of Toni Braxton, Common and Maxwell. The free exhibition runs from June 7- July 26, 2018, and there will be a free artist opening reception and art talk on June 7, 2018 from 6-9pm. For more information, www.aliarts.org.

Platinum producer Mustard and Grammy and Golden Globe nominated artist, Nick Jonas will perform the new single 'Anywhere' for the first time in its entirety at the 2018 "MTV Movie & TV Awards." The world premiere of the video debuted yesterday on MTV. Additionally, Chloe x Halle are set to take the stage for a medley of "The Kids Are Alright" and "Warrior" from their debut album.

Black Violin will continue their successful Classical Boom Tour through May 2018, making a stop at Overture Center's Capitol Theater on Thursday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. This tour is a follow up to the successful 2016-2017 UNITY tour, which saw 28 sold-out public performances. On April 4, 2018, Black Violin performed with theNational Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center.
