Trinity Repertory Company will open the heartwarming new comedy Into the Breeches! this month. Set in 1942 Providence, the play follows the women of the fictional Oberon Playhouse, who endeavor to continue with their Shakespearean production even though the company's men (including their director) are fighting overseas in World War II. The women's dedication to each other and the theater is a delightful celebration of art and community.

Cherry Lane Theatre has announced the line-up for its third annual Cherry Lane School, an initiative that features panel discussions and intimate workshop sessions with leading members of the theatre community.

Inspired by the photographic works of Slim Aarons, Jerry Ruiz's conception of "Twelfth Night" will transport audiences to a mid-20th century Illyria where jet-setting socialites encounter mistaken identities and gender masquerades, ensuring that no one really knows who they are, or what they want. A shipwrecked Viola disguises herself as Cesario, a page in the service of Duke Orsino. Viola loves Orsino, but Orsino loves Lady Olivia, who in turn falls for "Cesario" when "he" is sent by the Duke to court her. Turning this comic love triangle even further on its side is the reappearance of Viola's twin brother Sebastian, presumed dead after the shipwreck. Add in a fool named Feste and a drunkard named Belch for a fast-paced feast for the senses.

Institute, in association with the Loeb Drama Center, brings back the enchanting musical, The Light Princess, by Lila Rose Kaplan with music by Mike Pettry, directed by Allegra Libonati, with choreography by Jeff and Rick Kuperman. Spookfish Theatre Company will present the World Premiere of i wrote on ur wall and now i regret it by Ming Peiffer, July 30-August 10 at The Wild Project (195 East 3rd Street). The production will be directed by Kat Yen (Resident Director at The Flea Theater) and will feature Jaspal Binning, Ryan Dreyer, Karen Eilbacher, David M. Farrington, Ricky Faust, Andrea Goldman, Jordan Ho, Ying Ying Li, and Stephanie Regina. The creative team will include Lighting Design by Porsche McGovern and Sound Design by Daniela Hart. Assistant directed by Samuel Wilson.
