In their first ever co-production, Tamasha theatre company and the ICA present STARS: an Afrofuturist Space Odyssey, about an older woman who goes into outer space in search of her own orgasm. It is created by Alfred Fagon Award 2021 winner and George Devin Award 2022 finalist Mojisola Adebayo, directed by Gail Babb and S. Ama Wray, with animations by artist Candice Purwin, and music direction by producer Debo Adebayo.

Launching Shakespeare’s Globe’s Winter Season, Henry V opens in the candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse on 10 November, running until 4 February.

Tamasha reveals a rich programme of live and digital theatre from autumn 2022 into spring 2023 - the first full season since Artistic Director Pooja Ghai and Executive Director/CEO Valerie Synmoie have been leading the company.

The Winter Season in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse will open on 10 November with Henry V directed by Headlong Artistic Director Holly Race Roughan and co-produced by the Globe and Headlong with Leeds Playhouse and Royal & Derngate, Northampton.

Abdul Shayek has today announced his first programme for the newly rebranded Tara Theatre. Tara Theatre is the UK's longest established Asian, Black and ethnically diverse led theatre company. Shayek was appointed in August 2020, beginning a bold new chapter at a moment that has led to unequivocal consensus that things urgently need to change. 

First performed at the Kiln Theatre in 2019, and now available to stream digitally on the Tamasha Theatre Company YouTube channel, Approaching Empty is a play about friendship, community and the immigrant experience in Britain. It's set in a minicab office in the North of England, in the wake of Margaret Thatchera??s death.

Following the success of his 2016 World War I drama Wipers, award-winning playwright Ishy Din returns to the Belgrade Theatre this March with a brand new show about working class lives in post-industrial North East England.

Tamasha, Kiln and Live Theatre will present a Scottish premiere of Approaching Empty as part of our spring season, written by award-winning playwright Ishy Din and directed by Pooja Ghai (Associate Director of Theatre Royal Stratford East 2015-2018).

Pooja Ghai directs Kammy Darweish (Mansha), Rina Fatania (Sameena), Karan Gill (Shazad), Nicholas Khan (Raf), Nicholas Prasad (Sully) and Maanuv Thiara (Tany). The production opens at Kiln Theatre on 14 January, with previews from 9 January, and runs until 2 February. Following performances at Kiln Theatre, the production tours to Live Theatre, Newcastle; Tron Theatre, Glasgow; Assembly Roxy, Edinburgh; Derby Theatre; Belgrade Theatre, Coventry; Curve, Leicester; Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch, and Coliseum Theatre, Oldham.
