2015 marks Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC)'s first decade of providing a creative home for performing artists to develop and showcase work in New York City, where artistic director Mikhail Baryshnikov's vision for a performing arts center has become a thriving reality.
The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. is proud to present two companies each having its first full engagements at The Joyce this June: Brian Brooks Moving Company, from June 2 – 4, with a mixed program that includes a world premiere; and Pontus Lidberg Dance, June 6 – 7, with the New York premieres of Snow and Written on Water. Choreographers Kyle Abraham, Jessica Lang and Reggie Wilson have been awarded New York City Center's 2015 Choreography Fellowships. The Fellowship supports choreographers at critical stages in their careers and reflects City Center's long history of nurturing dance makers, from George Balanchine to Christopher Wheeldon.
On April 17, 2015, David Hallberg Presents: Legacy, was presented as the final performance of the Youth America Grand Prix. Hallberg himself served as moderator, introducing the evening's participating dancers and the companies: Bolshoi Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Mariinsky Ballet, Tokyo Ballet in their U.S. debut, ABT Studio Company, and the Australian Ballet. Although public speaking does not seem to come as easily to Hallberg as dancing, he entertained us with anecdotes from his experience dancing with American Ballet Theatre and abroad.

Festival General Director Nigel Redden has today announced the program for the 39th annual Spoleto Festival USA, taking place May 22 through June 7, 2015. Held in Charleston, South Carolina, the Festival includes the world premiere of the opera Paradise Interrupted composed by Huang Ruo and designed and directed by visual artist Jennifer Wen Ma, the American premiere and first performances in over 350 years of Francesco Cavalli's baroque opera Veremonda, l'amazzone di Aragona, and the first US performances of a new production of Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare's Globe directed by the company's Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole and Tim Hoare.

Transforming the 19th century warehouse on the banks of theHudson River into a one-of-a-kind performance space, Hudson Valley Dance Festival (#hvdance) raised $121,125 for Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. New York City Center's 11th annual Fall for Dance Festival will feature free performances in Central Park and 24 acclaimed dance companies and artists from around the world, in six unique programs in September and October 2014. In keeping with the Festival's commitment to make dance accessible to everyone, the Festival will kick off with two FREE evenings of dance at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, in association with The Public Theater, today and tomorrow, September 12 and 13 (rain date, September 14) and will continue at City Center from October 8 - October 19 with all tickets at $15. The Festival's many free pre-show events will include dance lessons and panels by choreographers, artists and dance educators. Tickets will go on sale Sunday, September 14 at 11 a.m.

New York City Center's 2014-15 season features an exciting lineup of dance and musical theater that begins with the 11th season of City Center's acclaimed Fall for Dance Festival.
