The Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival will launch its 83nd year with preview performances beginning on February 16. The 2018 season officially kicks off Friday night, February 23, in the Angus Bowmer Theatre with Shakespeare's Othello (director, Bill Rauch). On Saturday afternoon, Shakespeare's Henry V (director, Rosa Joshi) opens in the Thomas Theatre, and the West Coast premiere of Kate Hamill's adaptation of Jane Austen's novel Sense and Sensibility (director, Hana S. Sharif) opens that evening in the Angus Bowmer Theatre. On Sunday afternoon, Karen Zacarias's Destiny of Desire (director, Jose Luis Valenzuela) will be staged in the Angus Bowmer Theatre.

West Fargo High Theater uses a small cast to send a powerful message in White Buffalo!

Nancy Manocherian's the cell (Artistic Director, Kira Simring) will present the Off Broadway Premiere of BASTARD JONES, a rock musical comedy based on Henry Fielding's bawdy 18th century novel, The History of Tom Jones. With book, lyrics, & direction by Marc Acito (Broadway's Allegiance) and music & lyrics by Amy Engelhardt (Grammy nominees The Bobs), performances begin June 14 at the cell. Opening is slated for Thursday, June 22.

Some exciting news out of the Music Box Theater as audience and cast members of Broadway's hit show, Dear Evan Hansen. have reported that the show's next title player, Taylor Trensch took an early bow in the show tonight.

'Combining CTC's critical literacy work and Penumbra's racial justice work allows us to forge something together that neither could do alone.' These words in the playbill of THE WIZ, the first collaboration between these two acclaimed #TCTheater companies, brought tears to my eyes before the show even started. Especially after wading through a sea of children of all shapes, sizes, colors, and creeds. In an increasingly divided world, Penumbra (one of the longest-running and most acclaimed African American theater companies in the nation) and Children's Theatre (ditto for children's theater) give me hope, as individual companies and especially in this collaboration in which an all-black cast tells a story of a young black woman who discovers her own power through the help of friends. They give me hope that maybe we can overcome our seemingly insurmountable differences and join together in song and awesome dance to solve our problems. It's possible, right? Can't you feel a brand new day? Indeed I can.

Calling all humans! Tonight, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS opens at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans, and this is a show you absolutely don't want to miss. With music by the Gershwin brothers, book by Craig Lucas, and with the choreography and direction of Christopher Wheeldon, this show brings beauty and light to the aftermath of World War II in Paris. We follow three young men who are on a journey to find love and to find their way in the world through making art in a time when the world was struggling to recover.

Ben Rimalower will celebrate the recent release of his plays PATTI ISSUES and BAD WITH MONEY by Roven Records on Audible.com with a special performance of PATTI ISSUES at The Green Room 42 on Sunday, January 28. In Patti Issues, Rimalower explores the ways his lifelong obsession (and eventual working friendship) with Patti LuPone helped him navigate a tumultuous relationship with his volatile father. Since premiering in 2012, Patti Issues has garnered a tremendous amount of great press and word-of-mouth from attendees such as Tony Kushner, Alan Cumming, Laurie Metcalf and Ms. LuPone herself, who said, The show's fantastic. It's really wonderful. I was moved. Patti Issues is directed by Aaron Mark (Empanada Loca with Daphne Rubin-Vega, Squeamish With Alison Fraser).
