Williamstown Theatre Festival's annual Gala was just held at City Winery in New York City (155 Varick Street) last night, February 8, 2016. The evening included cocktails, dinner, and live auction led by Charity Auctioneer Robbie Gordy of Christie's New York. Hosted by Jessica Hecht and David Hyde Pierce, the evening included special appearances and performances by: star of stage and screen Ana Gasteyer, Telly Leung (Broadway's Allegiance), Lindsay Mendez (Broadway's Wicked), New York's hottest new band Sky-Pony (led by Tony Award-nominated singer/actress Lauren Worsham and musician/writer Kyle Jarrow), and more. Rehearsals recently began for Theatre for a New Audience's production of William Shakespeare's PERICLES directed by Trevor Nunn, featuring OBIE Award-winner Christian Camargo in the title role and leading a diverse company of 22 actors. Theatre for a New Audience will present a live taping of the podcast Person Place Thing with host Randy Cohen interviewing internationally acclaimed director Trevor Nunn on Sunday, January 24, at 7:00pm at Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Place. In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 36 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2016 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 19 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration. Pericles marks Mr. Camargo's third Shakespeare title role for Theatre for a New Audience, and the first time not only that Trevor Nunn has directed this play, but the first time he has directed a Shakespeare with a U.S. company. Both events take place at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues).
