FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training to Present Durang & Stoppard Double-Bill

The FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training kicks off its 2015-16 season with a double bill of Tony and Obie Award-winning playwright Christopher Durang's THE ACTOR'S NIGHTMARE and multi-Tony Award-winner Tom Stoppard's THE REAL INSPECTOR HOUND. Presenting a full night of entertainment from two masters of absurdist comedy, the evening will start with 30-minute one-act THE ACTOR'S NIGHTMARE, include a brief intermission and close with THE REAL INSPECTOR HOUND. Directed by Greg Leaming, the director of the Conservatory, both shows preview in the Cook Theatre at the FSU Center for Performing Arts on Tuesday, November 3 at 7:30pm with a special 'Pay What You Can Performance,' and officially open on Wednesday, November 4 at 7:30pm and run through Sunday, November 22.
CUBA LIBRE World Premiere at Artists Rep Extends to November 15

Artists Repertory Theatre extends the world premiere production of the Broadway-scale new musical Cuba Libre through November 15. Due to robust advance ticket sales, Artists Rep has added a full week of performances, as well as additional shows within the originally announced run, even prior to the show's first preview performance on Saturday, October 3.

Odyssey Opera, a Boston-??based opera company dedicated to exploring the full spectrum of adventurous repertoire, presents the Boston premiere of one of France's great operas, Le Cid (1885), composed by Jules Massenet (1842-??1912). A rarity that has been sadly absent from opera houses worldwide in the 20th and 21st centuries, Le Cid is rarely produced in the United States. With its grand themes of honor, love, bravery, and sacrifice, Le Cid encompasses the sweep of historical epic and the depths of the heart. Conducted by Gil Rose, this one-??night-??only performance breathes new dramatic life into the legendary medieval Spanish warrior Rodrigue, known as "Le Cid" ("The Lord") (played by American tenor Paul Groves.)

A French noble who can lie himself out of any predicament, his hopelessly honest servant, identical twin maids and a meddling father are among the hilarious citizenry that populate The Liar, the final offering of the Deep Dish Theater Company's 14th season. David Ives' mirthful adaptation of the classic comedy by Pierre Corneille, staged by Artistic Director Paul Frellick, opened May 1 and plays through May 23 in the company's theater in University Mall.
