Broadway Cares, in partnership with the Tennessee Performing Arts Center and the cast and crew of the A CHORUS LINE national tour, will make a donation of $47,892 to The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to help to those affected by the May 1, 2010 floods.

In honor of the huge success of this week's Broadway Easter Bonnet Competition, I've decided to dedicate my column to Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS, the New York theatre community's premiere social service non-profit.

The Paley Center for Media celebrated the storied, multi-decade television career of Oscar, Tony, Golden Globe and BAFTA award-winning actor Joel Grey on Tuesday, April 27 with 'An Evening with Joel Grey.'

The 24th ANNUAL EASTER BONNET COMPETITION was a great success with an astounding, $3,265,700 being raised this year by the 64 participating Broadway, Off-Broadway, and National Tour companies benefiting Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. Since it began in 1987, the 23 editions of the EASTER BONNET COMPETITION have raised over $42 million for BC/EFA.

The Actors Fund celebrated the close of a year-long $10.1 million special campaign last evening at the Marriott Marquis in New York City, 1535 Broadway. Proceeds from the gala evening brought the grand total raised for the entertainment charity to $10.8 million.

The theme for this latest installment is 'AROUND THE WORLD.' There will be two performances at 8 PM and 10 PM.

Tom Viertel, Chairman of the Board of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, has announced that Stephen Sondheim will present Harold Prince with the organization's Monte Cristo Award at a gala benefit on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Bridgewaters. The Award, given annually in recognition of a distinguished career exemplifying Eugene O'Neill's pioneering spirit and standard of excellence, has previously been presented to Kevin Spacey, Neil Simon, Jason Robards, Jr., Edward Albee, August Wilson, Zoe Caldwell, Brian Dennehy, Karl Malden, Arthur and Barbara Gelb, and Wendy Wasserstein.

The 24th Annual Night of a Thousand Gowns benefit, held on Saturday March 27, honored famed director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell. Featured performers included actors from 'Football Strip' and Stimulus Package,' Broadway star Terri White, music artist Crystal Waters, pop singers Kristine W. and Kelly King, and drag queens Coco Peru and and Jesse Volt.
