In the latest mounting of 'Hello, Dolly!' produced by Theatre at the Center, Chicago's beloved Paula Scrofano once again sinks her teeth into the role.
This July, Theatre Building Chicago (1225 W. Belmont Ave.) will welcome Chicago's acclaimed musical and comedy 'dynamic duo' Amy Armstrong and Freddy Allenas as they take the mainstage for one-weekend only in their summer revue: Amy & Freddy's Big Time Show.
Audiences will find fresh holiday entertainment this season at the Lakeshore Theater, where Chicago's dynamic musical and comedy duo Amy Armstrong and Freddy Allen take the mainstage for a limited December engagement in their first-ever holiday revue, 'How the Diva Stole Christmas.'
star performance needs strong support. Even the greatest of leading ladies can't save a production boggled by misguided choices. It is too bad that Village Theatre's wonky new production of Hello, Dolly! is never able to live up to its delightful star (in her return to Seattle) Peggy O'Connell. With a solidly tuneful Jerry Herman score, a tight book by Michael Stewart, and opportunities for multiple star turns, you would expect this local revival to be a triumph. Sadly, director Steve Tomkins' tendency to gravitate towards the superficial requires O'Connell to make a difficult uphill climb. Stars of her caliber should never be subjected to this chore.
Comic, former child star, outspoken activist, and 2006 TV Land Award winner Alison Arngrim--who played the badly-behaved Nellie Oleson on 'Little House on the Prairie' for seven years--will return to New York with Confessions of a Prairie Bitch on May 12 and 13 at The Cutting Room
Marian Seldes, Kathleen Chalfant and Christian Campbell are among the theatre veterans who will be seen on the controversial new NBC show 'Book of Daniel'
The Emmy Award-winning actress and comedian will appear in
25 Questions For a Jewish Mother at the Ars Nova from January 18-February 12. We checked in to get the scoop.
Alison Arngrim, who played little spitfire Nellie Oleson on Little House on the Prairie, will perform a one-woman show about her experiences in LA from September 2nd through 23rd
And you thought she was out spoken on that damn Little House on the Prairie? Vanity Fair declared her 'TV history's #1 one bitch' and now after her successful run in New York, she's taking her title and show on the road starting in Los Angeles. Based on her one woman nightclub act, join Alison Arngrim (formerly Nellie Oleson from the hit series Little House on the Prairie) as she gives audiences a reality check on 'the facts of life' like no one else has ever done before, but sure as hell should have in CONFESSIONS OF A PRAIRIE BITCH.
TV fans around the world remember Alison Arngrim as hateful Nellie Oleson, the acid-tongued hellcat who tormented pure, sweet Laura Ingalls for seven years on TV's Little House on the Prairie.
