A number of theatre stars will appear on "Book of Daniel," a new series that will premiere its first two episodes back to back on NBC on January 6th at 9 PM.

Kathleen Chalfant (Wit, Angels in America), Marian Seldes (The Play About the Baby, Deathtrap) and Christian Campbell (Reefer Madness) are among the theatre veterans who will appear in the show.  They will be joined by stars such as Aidan Quinn, Susanna Thompson, Ellen Burstyn, Dylan BakerJames Rebhorn,  Ivan Shaw, Alison Pill, Dan Hedaya, and Garret Dillahunt; Phyllis Diller will appear in the pilot.

According to press notes, the show concerns "Daniel (Quinn), a good minister and a good man, but that's not always enough to deal with his life. He's addicted to Vicodin. His wife, Judith, has frozen inside since one of their sons died of leukemia. His son, Peter, is gay. His daughter, Grace, is dealing marijuana to raise extra cash. And in moments of great stress, Jesus turns up--in the passenger seat of Daniel's station wagon, in the bedroom hallway, outside the church--to offer his counsel."

Campbell has stated that "Book of Daniel" is "causing a stir already.  Even though they have not seen a single frame of the series, the American Family Association feels we are not up to their tastes and have commenced an attack campaign on NBC to have the show pulled."
