Last night, August 29, the latest Medal of Honor recipient, Staff Sergeant Ty Carter, attended Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark. This past Monday, Carter was honored by President Obama this past Monday for rescuing a fellow soldier in Afghanistan. At the end of the performance, Bob Cuccioli (Green Goblin) gave a curtain call speech honoring Carter, and then welcomed him back stage for a meet and greet with cast members Rebecca Faulkenberry and Reeve Carney. SPIDER-MAN Ticket Sales Suffer After Actor Injury

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, earlier this month, Daniel Curry, an actor from SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK was tragically injured during a performance of the accident-plagued Broadway musical. On August 15, the performance was halted and audience members sent home after a piece of equipment pinned an actor's leg underneath it, causing the injury. According to the New York Times, Curry remains at Bellevue Hospital, where he just had his third foot surgery.

'Following last night's accident at SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, Daniel Curry remains in the hospital in stable condition having sustained an injury to his foot. Tonight's performance will go on as scheduled. The technical elements of the show are all in good working order, and we can confirm that equipment malfunction was not a factor in the incident. Our thoughts are with Daniel and his family.'

Broadway rocker Justin Matthew Sargent, best known for his star turn as 'Drew' in Broadway's Rock of Ages, will join the company of SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark as the Peter Parker / Spider-Man Alternate. Sargent will play select performances at the Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street) with a varied week to week performance schedule.

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, Broadway's high-flying spectacular, is launching a massive coast-to-coast search to find its next Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Los Angeles, at the Hollywood United Methodist Church, on Monday, August 12 beginning at 9:30 a.m. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the show's original and current star (and Los Angeles native), Reeve Carney (who is scheduled to depart the production on Sunday, September 15, 2013) is taking the trip to Los Angeles to be at the casting call to meet and greet hopefuls.

The show's original and current star, Reeve Carney, will depart the production on Sunday, September 15, 2013 and two open casting calls, in Los Angeles and New York, are being planned to find his replacement. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take over the lead role in Broadway's most famous show is completely open to the public. Hopefuls should be males in their late teens to early twenties of any ethnicity. They must have a great rock singing voice. They can be nerdy with an understated sex appeal and a good sense of humor.

Broadway's SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is doing its part to support New York's critically ill and injured children at St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children, the City's only long-term rehabilitation hospital for children and the region's largest provider of home healthcare to children with medically complex conditions. Throughout the month of June, when guests buy Spider-Man tickets through Givenick, a portion of all proceeds will be donated to St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children.

DAt teh event, Reeve Carney and Rebecca Faulkenberry performed “If The World Should End,' followed by “Rise Above” with Jennifer Sanchez. SPIDER-MAN Brings Back 'Tony Sunday;' All 'Tonys' to Receive Free Ticket, 6/9

After attracting a record number of 'Tonys' last year, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark will, once again, hold a special performance celebrating 'Tony Sunday' at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 9. Like last year, anyone named Tony (or any variation thereof, including Anthony, Antoinette, Toni, Antonio, or Antonia) will be eligible to receive a complimentary pair of tickets to the special performance. This year, SPIDER-MAN will also be offering free tickets to any past Tony Award-winners. People named 'Tony' need to bring state-issued photo ID. Tony-winners need to bring their Tony Award.
