Miro Magloire presents his New Chamber Ballet in the world premiere of a work to music by frequent collaborator Michel Galante, commissioned by the O'Donnell-Green Music and Dance Foundation. The program will be completed by Miro works to music by Karlheinz Stockhausen, Mauricio Kagel, and Reiko Fueting, November 18 & 19. The Friday November 18 performance will start at 8:30 PM, and the Saturday November 19 evening will begin at the usual 8 PM, in City Center Studio 5, 130 West 56 Street.
Baruch Performing Arts Center (BPAC) will host award-winning choreographer Gabrielle Lamb'sPigeonwing Dance in the premiere of an ensemble work that includes a new solo created for guest artist PeiJu Chien-Pott, a principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company. The program also includes Lamb's Tessellations (2016), performed by the Joffrey Ensemble. The one-night-only performance, presented in association with the CUNY Dance Initiative, will take place on Friday, November 18, at 7pm, at Mason Hall at the Baruch Performing Arts Center.

Lydia Johnson Dance announces its New York season, March 10-12, 7:30 PM, at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, 405 West 55 Street (corner 9th Avenue), presenting a program of company favorites and the world premiere of a work set to new versions of classic jazz standards including 'I'm Old Fashioned' by Jerome Kern. The choreography abstracts the romantic arc of these pieces and, while fully enjoying the lyrical romance inherent in the music, the piece becomes somewhat surrealistic, as the dancers seem to function in a world of their own memories.

Synopsis - The program will highlight 3 New Pieces to the MoralesDance rep starting with “The Rest of Your Life”, a new creation by Tony Morales for 8 student dancers from Ballet Forte of New Jersey. This will be followed by Kate Skarpetowska's Brand new work titled “The Crossing” on 4 of the MoralesDance dancers and lastly, a little later in the program, “Idyll” will be premiered. A brand new work by Tony Morales featuring 4 of the dancers and the beautiful music of Leos Janacek. Other works include audience favorites like “Ablution” (the first piece ever created by Mr. Morales), “Piano Pieces” (created in 2000), last year's new creation (made on the ever wonderful Antonio Douthit-Boyd from the Ailey Co) “For You” and 'Circumstances' which will open the program. Guest Artist dancers include incredible up in coming talent such as Elaine Gutierrez, Molly Levy, Cassie Lewis, Martell Ruffin, Nadia Vostrikov and Jerome Melsaun Warren.

Magloire's premiere, Friction, is a commission from the Center for Faith and Work in New York City, which offers annual artist residencies. The score, In Flow for solo violin, is by NYC-based composer, 2015 Guggenheim Fellow Richard Carrick, whose music has been described as 'charming, with exoticism and sheer infectiousness' and 'organic and restless' by The New York Times. Carick is co-founder and co-artistic director of the contemporary music ensemble Either/Or, recently taught composition at Columbia and New York Universities, and is a cornerstone of the teaching artist faculty for the New York Philharmonic.
