That is exactly what we encounter in Puma, a new play that explores the life-long, obsessive and tempestuous love affair between Marlene Dietrich, the German actress who became a Hollywood icon, and Erich Maria Remarque, the celebrated author of All's Quiet On The Western Front. Performances are Thursdays thru Sundays now thru April 3 at the New Jersey Repertory Company.

Conspiracy theories in lower Manhattan, a steamy meeting on the lam, the Golden Age of Hollywood, and the dark underbelly of the ivory tower are all part of the adventurous new season of plays announced today by New Jersey Repertory Company. From Yankee Tavern, Steven Dietz's deftly disorienting 9/11 thriller, to Puma, a new play peopled with bygone stars of the silver screen, there is intrigue, irony, deep ethical dilemma and high hilarity to be found on stage in 2010-11.

Rarely seen home movies shot by and featuring Hollywood legends such as Marlon Brando, Gene Kelly, Sophia Loren and Natalie Wood will screen during the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' presentation of 'Hollywood Home Movies II: Treasures from the Academy Film Archive' on Saturday, October 17, at 7 p.m. at the Academy's Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood. This event is sold out, but standby tickets may become available.

The West Side YMCA Writer's Voice today announced that actor Austin Pendleton (HBO's Oz, voice of Gurgle in Finding Nemo, The Diary of Anne Frank, Grand Hotel, Goodtime Charley, The Little Foxes, Fiddler on the Roof, and Up from Paradise) will play the lead role in a staged reading of Charlie Schulman's latest play: The Great Man. Renowned Broadway Director Matt August (of How the Grinch Stole Christmas- the Broadway musical, and others) to direct.

Directed by acclaimed director Matt August (of How the Grinch Stole Christmas - the Broadway musical, and others), the play is loosely inspired by James Atlas's decade-long experience writing the biography of the Nobel Prize winning author Saul Bellow.
