BWW Sydney attended the announcement of the 2016 HELPMANN AWARDS NOMINATIONS at Sydney Theatre Company's Wharf 2 Theatre.

Lena Hall will reprise her Tony Award-winning performance as Yitzhak in the highly anticipated National Tour of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the 2014 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Revival, in performances at the SHN Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco (October 2-30, 2016) and the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles (November 1-27, 2016). She will join previously-announced Darren Criss on the tour.

The Drama League (Executive Artistic Director, Gabriel Shelian-Shanks) gathers today for the 82nd Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony, hosted by 2016 Tony® Award-nominees, Zachary Levi (She Loves Me) and Megan Hilty (Noises Off), in the Broadway Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway).

On Friday, April 15, 2016, the Broadway play ECLIPSED by Danai Gurira - a story about the navigation of five women through the vicious Liberian civil war - observed a moment of silence during the curtain call to honor of the hundreds of missing girls who, in 2014 were abducted by members of Boko Haram, a terrorist group, at the Chibok school in Northern Nigeria: #BringBackOurGirls.

James Graham's critically acclaimed political drama THIS HOUSE will transfer to the Garrick Theatre, following its upcoming run at Chichester's Minerva Theatre.

FUN HOME, the groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning Best Musical, celebrates its one-year anniversary on Broadway today, April 19, where it has played 415 performances (and counting) at the Circle in the Square Theatre (235 West 50th St).

BroadwayWorld has just learned that producer Howard Kagan has announced that NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 will begin Broadway performances this October at the Imperial Theatre. Grammy-nominated multi-platinum recording artist Josh Groban will make his long-awaited Broadway debut as 'Pierre' alongside Denee Benton as 'Natasha.'

ECLIPSED is a Broadway rarity; a story about African women written by an African woman.

The complete original cast from The Public Theater's acclaimed, sold-out production of the new American play ECLIPSED by Danai Gurira are reprising their roles on Broadway this spring. ECLIPSED, directed by Liesl Tommy, begins previews tonight, February 23, 2016, with opening night set for March 6, 2016 on Broadway at the Golden Theatre (252 W. 45th Street).

DOT by Colman Domingo - currently starring as Strand on AMC's FEAR THE WALKING DEAD and also in The Sundance Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award winner THE BIRTH OF A NATION by Nate Parker - just opened at the Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15th St.). The play is directed by multiple Tony Award winner Susan Stroman, who returns to The Vineyard for the first time since she directed the theater's acclaimed world premiere of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS. Producers Stephen C. Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey announced today that the critically acclaimed Broadway boundEclipsed will today launch a campaign to bring 10,000 girls to see the show.  Through the '10,000 Girls Campaign,' girls from the Tri-State area between ages 16 to 24, who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience a Broadway show, will be given tickets to see Eclipsed.

Eclipsed makes history during Black History Month.  Holding the special distinction of being led by the only two African-American lead producers on Broadway, Stephen Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey, Eclipsed will be the first show in Broadway history with an entirely female cast and creative team, and further: an entirely Black cast and creative team.  Eclipsed begins previews later this month.
