by Frank Benge - Jul 20, 2015

RING OF FIRE is a jukebox musical based on the music of Johnny Cash. The main problem with the show's original concept was that it didn't tell the story of the Man in Black. The show originally used 38 musical numbers to try to portray 'a mosaic of American experience'. That original Broadway production only lasted a month.

BWW Reviews: Beatles Bring Originality and Fun to LET IT BE CHRISTMAS
by Jeff Davis - Dec 21, 2013

At some point while I was en route to see Let it Be Christmas, I couldn't help but laugh. Here I am, an atheist who grew up in a half-Jewish/half-Christian household, going to see an original musical based on the nativity and featuring music by the Beatles, a band featuring John Lennon who once said 'We're more popular than Jesus.' Oh, and the show's in a church. So to recap, I'm an atheistic half-Jew going to a church to see a show about Jesus featuring songs by a band who claimed to be more popular than the savior himself.

BWW Reviews: REEFER MADNESS is So Funny, It Should Be Illegal
by Jeff Davis - Jun 9, 2013

Sometimes there's nothing as hysterical as hysteria. That's the main premise of Reefer Madness, currently produced by Doctuh Mistuh Productions, a musical satire about the dangers of marijuana. The show, which splits its run between the Spiderhouse Ballroom and the Dougherty Arts Center, is an absolute laugh riot.
