School of American Ballet Hosts Workshop Performance Benefit 2013 Tonight

The School of American Ballet announces the Workshop Performance Benefit 2013 tonight, June 4, 2013, honoring Peter Martins' and Kay Mazzo's 30th Anniversary at SAB. Cocktails begin at 5:30pm at Morse Hall at the Juilliard School, 155 W. 65th Street, followed by the performance at 7pm at Lincoln Center's Peter Jay Sharp Theater, 155 W. 65th Street, and dinner and dancing at 9pm in the School's Studios in the Samuel B. and David Rose Building, 165 W. 65th Street, 5th floor. Attire is cocktail or festive. Tickets begin at $300 and tables begin at $15,000.

Tickets for the new Broadway musical BIG FISH will go on sale to the general public onSunday, June 16 at Ticketmaster.com (866-870-2717). An exclusive two-week pre-sale for Audience Rewards members and partners launches on Monday, June 3, during which members can earn 2,000 bonus points when they purchase a ticket to BIG FISH at AudienceRewards.com. Directed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Contact, The Producers, The Scottsboro Boys), with music and lyrics by Grammy and Tony Award nominee Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party, The Addams Family), and a book by Grammy and BAFTA Award nominee John August (Frankenweenie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), BIG FISH begins performances on Thursday, September 5, 2013 and will open Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the Neil Simon Theatre. Tickets for BIG FISH range from $49 - $142. The playing schedule for BIG FISH is as follows: Monday through Friday at 8pm with matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There will be no 2pm matinee on Wednesday, September 11. Beginning October 7, 2013, the playing schedule for BIG FISH is as follows: Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm and Wednesday at 8pm with matinees on Wednesday at 2pm, Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 3pm.

One Chekhovian country house exits the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater and a new Chekhovian country house enters.  But Richard Nelson's Nikolai and the Others, enjoying an elegant staging by director David Cromer, is a more sober-minded effort than the venue's last tenant, Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonya and Masha and Spike.

The New York Philharmonic has announced that New York City Ballet principal dancers Robert Fairchild and Tiler Peck will perform in the staged production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel, February 27-March 2, 2013. Robert Fairchild will portray the Carnival Boy, and Tiler Peck will portray Louise. With original choreography by Warren Carlyle, Mr. Fairchild and Ms. Peck will dance the pas de deux ballet in Act II. Reflecting this production's focus on Carousel's music, the ballet will be the sole fully choreographed scene. These performances mark Warren Carlyle's first time choreographing Mr. Fairchild and Ms. Peck, and represent Mr. Carlyle, Mr. Fairchild, and Ms. Peck's Philharmonic debuts. Mr. Fairchild and Ms. Peck are appearing courtesy of the New York City Ballet.

Broadway Across America - Fort Lauderdale has announced their subscription series presented by Florida Theatrical Association in partnership with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts sponsored by Bank of America. From the creators of South Park and winner of nine Tony Awards, The Book of Mormon will play a limited three-week engagement November 26 - December 22, 2013.
