BroadwayWorld/Costa Mesa's Michael Lawrence Quintos looks back at the highs of this past year. Orange County (or 'The O.C.' as it's more popularly nicknamed) saw a plethora of amazing theater this past year, thanks to a hits-driven national tour line-up at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, as well as some great productions at some local/regional companies such as South Coast Repertory and The Laguna Playhouse. And nearby L.A. and San Diego provided O.C. residents even more choices for great theatergoing experiences.

The 21st Annual GYPSY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION announced an all time record total of $4,630,695 had been raised by the 60 participating Broadway, Off-Broadway, and National Tour companies to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This year's total breaks the previous record when $3,927,000 was raised for the 2007 GYPSY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION.

This is your chance to experience Broadway with the pros at the top! Take it From the Top is a 3-day musical theatre intensive founded by Laura Bell Bundy, star of Legally Blonde on Broadway, and performer and educator Paul Canaan.

Directed by Paige Price, evening of entertainment benefited THE BROADWAY DREAMS FOUNDATION (BDF), a non-profit organization that brings young talent closer to their Broadway dreams regardless of their financial status through intensive week-long Broadway training programs throughout the country.

Deane Little Theatre at the West Side Y. After a smash sellout at the August Wilson Theater with their 15th Anniversary Reunion Benefit Concert of The Who's Tommy last December, ROCKERS ON BROADWAY returned to BB King's on Monday November 2nd with another star-studded benefit show. Mark Indelicato, Philadelphia native and star of the smash hit ABC Television series 'Ugly Betty,' returned to his hometown when he joined the faculty of THE BROADWAY DREAMS FOUNDATION'S (BDF) Summer Performing Arts Intensive Program. The 15 year old actor, who is best known as fashion-obsessed Justin Suarez on the Emmy nominated series, spent the day at the program participating in a Q&A session and performing alongside the students in the final concert. BDF's Summer Performing Arts Intensive Program was held at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts (300 South Broad Street) Tuesday, August 4 through Saturday, August 9, 2009.

The Broadway Dreams Foundation, which produces the premiere workshop for anyone who aspires to succeed on Broadway is bringing its Summer Performing Arts Intensive to Philadelphia. This Intensive will bring Broadway stars Eden Espinosa, Billy Porter, Paul Canaan, Blake Daniel, Lilli Cooper, Carlos Encinias and Dave Barrus, songwriter Jeremy Schonfeld, along with Broadway casting directors Craig Burns and Rachel Hoffman, to the Kimmel Center for a week-long intensive where students will develop their skills (voice, acting and dance), perform with their idols in a revue style show, and audition before the casting directors.
