Academy Award® nominee and Emmy® Award winner David Strathairn (Dr. Austin Sloper) will join Academy Award® nominee Jessica Chastain (Catherine Sloper) in the Tony Award®-winning play The Heiress. Written by Ruth Goetz & Augustus Goetz, The Heiress will be directed by Tony Award® nominated playwright and director Moisés Kaufman and will open in the Fall of 2012 at a theatre to be announced.

Oscar Wilde's 'The Importance of Being Earnest' at the Smithtown Performing Arts Center is a wonderful replication of the Broadway production. In this hilarious, beautiful classic, 117 years since its first showing, it is enlightening to get a glimpse into another time period.

To inaugurate its 10th anniversary season, Stolen Chair has partnered with Lady Mendl's Tea Salon to offer a unique theatrical experience, "tea theatre." Stolen Chair will pair its 15th original work, The Bachelors' Tea Party, with a classic 5-course tea service. Written by Stolen Chair's resident playwright, Kiran Rikhye, and directed by Jon Stancato, 'one of the most daring and imaginative directors of his generation' (Martin Denton, NYtheatre.com), the play is open to the press on April 15. Stolen Chair veteran Liz Eckert (Stage Kiss and Kinderspiel) is joined onstage by Jody Flader (The Vineyard Theater's Slug Bearers of Kayrol Island).

Beginning March 21, the Roxy Regional Theatre will delve deeper into the life and times of the man who penned such classics as The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Importance of Being Earnest, with a limited run of Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde in theotherspace, the Roxy's 50-seat black-box theatre located upstairs.

Master puppeteer Blair Thomas will direct and create puppetry for CCT's The Houdini Box, already a recipient of two prestigious development grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. Book and lyrics are by Hannah Kohl, with original music by Mark Messing, music director of Chicago's #1 circus punk marching band Mucca Pazza.

Sonoma State University Department of Theatre Arts & Dance today announced LOOT, which is being described as 'Oscar Wilde meets Monty Python in this outrageous, hilarious romp of a whodunit as seen through the jaded eyes of mid-20th century English playwright Joe Orton. This greedy, sexy, tawdry (yet stylish) comic masterpiece goes to the next level when religious fervor and a deceased mother become cover-ups for a bank heist gone wrong. Throw in an inept detective and you have a classic satirical critique of the bourgeoisie.'

Park Square Theatre presents John Patrick Shanley's Tony-award-winning play, Doubt, A Parable, April 20-May 13. The play, which also won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, confronts the issues of hierarchical power, control, uncertainties and doubt. Set in a Catholic school in the Bronx in the 1960s, Doubt tells the story of an old-school, no-nonsense nun who considers charging a charismatic young priest with her unproven allegations. The drama takes place in a school much like the one playwright Shanley attended.

The two operas are presented in a new COC production by the legendary soprano-turned-director Catherine Malfitano and world-renowned conductor Sir Andrew Davis. A Florentine Tragedy is sung in German and Gianni Schicchi is sung in Italian, both with English SURTITLES™. The double bill of A Florentine Tragedy/Gianni Schicchi runs for eight performances at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts on April 26, May 2, 5, 12, 15, 18, 20 and 25, 2012.

La Jolla Playhouse just announced that The Nightingale, by the creative team behind the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening: Steven Sater (book and lyrics) and Duncan Sheik (music), directed by Tony Award nominee Moises Kaufman (33 Variations), will be part of the Playhouse's 2012/2013 season. American Heartland Theatre brings Oscar Wilde's farce The Importance of Being Earnest to Kansas City. A recent hit on Broadway, The Importance of Being Earnest is a comedy of mistaken identities which ridicules codes of propriety and etiquette. Dashing men-about-town John Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff pursue fair ladies Gwendolen Fairfax and Cecily Cardew. Matters are complicated by the imaginary characters invented by both men to cover their on-the-sly activities - not to mention the disapproval of Gwendolen's mother, the formidable Lady Bracknell, played by Jim Korinke.
