Peninsula Players Theatre, America's Oldest Professional Resident Summer Theatre and Door County's theatrical icon, announces artistic company members for its 82nd season, running June 13 through October 15, 2017. 

Alan Pally, an authority on Tony and Academy Award-winning British playwright Peter Shaffer ("Amadeus," "Equus"), will be guest speaker at the Playhouse's Sunday Symposium following the Sunday, June 4, 3 p.m. matinee performance of Shaffer's comedy "Lettice and Lovage." 

Broadway leading lady and Tony Award nominee Melissa Errico will return to the Broadway at Birdland Concert Series with 'Broadway Firecracker' on Monday, July 3 at 7pm at Birdland Jazz (315 West 44th Street), bringing this special summer holiday concert to her favorite jazz venue.

Brad Zimmerman is bringing his highly praised solo show My Son The Waiter:  A Jewish Tragedy to 7 Stages Theatre from May 18-June 18. 

Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw, under the leadership of Artistic Director David Staller, continued its 12th Season with its 123rd concert presentation, Shaw's two one-act comedies Press Cuttings and Dark Lady of the Sonnets, last night, May 22, at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2537 Broadway at 95th Street). Described as “one of the East Coast's most exciting and best opera companies (The Arts Fuse),” Odyssey Opera completes its Wilde Opera Nights series, a season-long exploration of operatic works inspired by the writings and world of Oscar Wilde. For two nights, Odyssey Opera presents a fully-staged performance of Arthur Sullivan and W.S. Gilbert's early hit, Patience; or, Bunthorne's Bride (1881). Inspired by the aesthetes of Victorian England of the late 1800s, this two-act comic opera delves into the world that Wilde skewered with his pen. Directed by Frank Kelley, with conductor Gil Rose and full orchestra and chorus, Patience welcomes back several Odyssey Opera alumni to the stage including Aaron Engrebreth (baritone) as Reginald Bunthorne and Sara Heaton (soprano) as Patience. 

 For the final production of its 2016/17 season, Artists Repertory Theatre presents The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, directed by Resident Artist Michael Mendelson.  Previews run May 16 through May 19, the play opens May 20 and runs through June 11 on the Alder Stage.

Artistic Director Tim Carroll has announced the appointment of Kate Hennig as the Shaw Festival's new Associate Artistic Director. Ms. Hennig will replace Eda Holmes, who announced in February that she will be leaving to become the Artistic and Executive Director of Centaur Theatre in Montreal, QC in August.

City Lit Theatre Artistic Director Terry McCabe has announced the cast for the company's season finale, the British comedy London Assurance. First produced in London in 1841 at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden, and shortly thereafter in New York City, London Assurance is considered a transitional play between the 18th century comedies of Richard Brinsley Sheridan and Oliver Goldsmith and the late 19th Century plays of Oscar Wilde. It has been one of Great Britain's most popular comedies of the standard classical repertoire and in recent decades has been performed by some of Britain's leading actors. 

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre - the monthly gathering of the International Order of Sodomites, the centuries-old organization which sets the mythic Gay Agenda - will conclude its acclaimed eight year run this Sunday, May 14 with two performances at 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater.

On Her Shoulders is pleased to present staged readings of four short plays by Djuna Barnes, directed by Melissa Attebery on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. Doors open at 6:30pm. The Play in Context, which situates the script in its historical time and place, kicks off the evening at 6:45pm with an Introduction by dramaturg Jess Holman. Admission is by Donation. Blackfriars Repertory Theatre and The Storm Theatre Company will present the world premiere of Death Comes for the War Poets, a dramatic verse tapestry by Joseph Pearce. The production, which will be performed June 9-24, 2017 at The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture's Black Box Theater, is directed by Peter Dobbins.
