Long Warf Theatre Presents BAD JEWS, Now thru 3/22

Long Wharf Theatre, under the director of Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein and Managing Director Joshua Borenstein, will present Bad Jews, by Joshua Harmon, directed by Oliver Butler, from tonight, February 18 through March 22, 2015, on Stage II.

HEDWIG's Stephen Trask Set for DEAD DARLING at Judson Tomorrow

Hedwig and the Angry Inch composer/lyricist/co-creator Stephen Trask is set to take part in the next Dead Darlings at the historic Judson Memorial Church on December 10. Also featured will be Doug Wright (playwright, I Am My Own Wife, Grey Gardens), Oliver Butler (director, Jacuzzi, Tick, Tick... BOOM) and Duncan Pflaster (creator, The Naughty Jewish Boys Calendar). BWW Exclusive: NTI Alumni Company - The Debate Society

These are just some of the ways NTI students have responded to working with our alumni company, The Debate Society. The Debate Society is an Obie Award winning, Brooklyn based company that creates new plays through the collaboration of Hannah Bos (writer/performer/NTI Fall '98), Paul Thureen (writer/performer/ NTI Fall '98/ MATS '00), and Oliver Butler (director/developer). The company specializes unexpected stories set in supremely intricate, vividly theatrical worlds.

Ars Nova Extends JACUZZI Through 11/15

Ars Nova has announced an additional and final extension of performances for the critically-acclaimed world premiere production Jacuzzi, a new play by Ars Nova's Company-in-Residence The Debate Society, written by Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen and directed by Obie Award-winner Oliver Butler. Originally set to play a limited Off-Broadway run through November 1, Jacuzzi recently extended through November 8. Due to high demand, the show has added an additional week of performances and will now play its final performance on Saturday, November 15 at Ars Nova (511 West 54th Street). Previews began September 30, with Official Opening Night on October 13.

Soho Rep. Meets Fundraising Goal Following Cancelled Gala

On March 31, 300 friends, artists and supporters gathered to celebrate and honor Soho Rep.'s Board Chair Jon Dembrow at their annual spring gala. Forty-five minutes into the evening, the beam supporting a second-story balcony at the event venue, Angel Orensanz Center, cracked. The building was deemed unsafe and all the guests were evacuated by the FDNY. The cancellation of the event and on-site auction left Soho Rep. with a projected end-of-the-fiscal-year deficit of $68,000.

Kyra Sedgwick Stars in John Patrick Shanley's New Play THE DANISH WIDOW, Beginning Tonight at Powerhouse

New York Stage and Film and Vassar College, this summer celebrating the 30th year of their Powerhouse Theater collaboration, previously announced that Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Kyra Sedgwick would lead the cast of Academy Award and Tony Award winner John Patrick Shanley's new play The Danish Widow, which premieres today, July 16, and continues through July 27, 2014 at Hallie Flanagan-Davis Powerhouse Theater at Vassar College. Shanley also directs the cast which also includes multitalented Broadway vets Craig Bierko and Matt McGrath, as well as stage and screen actress Annika Boras.
