HBO has confirmed a diverse array of timely and thought-provoking documentaries for the first half of 2017, including: Peter Kunhardt's BECOMING WARREN BUFFETT, a revealing portrait of the billionaire philanthropist; Evgeny Afineevsky's CRIES FROM SYRIA, a searing look at the five-year conflict in Syria; Irene Taylor Brodsky's chilling BEWARE THE SLENDERMAN, exploring how the dark corners of the Internet can influence society's most impressionable young consumers of the media; and Erin Lee Carr's MOMMY DEAD AND DEAREST, the headline-grabbing story of Dee Dee Blanchard and Gypsy Rose Blanchard, touching on child abuse, mental illness and forbidden love.

New American Folk Theatre to Premiere DEEP IN THE HEART OF TUNA

New American Folk Theatre is pleased to present the Midwest premiere of DEEP IN THE HEART OF TUNA, the newest installment of the comedic 'Tuna' series, which has entertained audiences across the U.S for over 25 years (Greater Tuna, 'A Tuna Christmas, 'Red, White and Tuna' and Tuna Does Vegas). Written by Ed Howard, Joe Sears and Jaston Williams and directed by Derek Van Barham, DEEP IN THE HEART OF TUNA will play February 4 - March 5, 2017 at The Buena at Pride Arts Center, 4147 N. Broadway in Chicago. Tickets are currently available at newamericanfolktheatre.org or by calling (872) 588-5760.

Rita Moreno Joins California Symphony For PETER & THE WOLF, 12/20-12/21

The California Symphony and Music Director Donato Cabrera ring in the holiday season with two special concerts starring beloved actress Rita Moreno, who narrates Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf in performances with the Orchestra December 20 at 7:30 pm and December 21 at 4 pm at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek.

INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS ART FESTIVAL Launches In New York City

The premier International Human Rights Art Festival, New York City's first arts-advocacy festival of its kind, will be presented by The Institute of Prophetic Activist Art, co-sponsored and housed at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie St, NYC), will take place March 3-5, 2017. Television producer and Presidential Medal of the Arts Winner, Norman Lear, is Advising Producer, and joins a roster of United States Senators, Congressman and local politicians on the list of honorary co-sponsors of the event.

A LIFE, Starring David Hyde Pierce, Extends Again at Playwrights Horizons

Due to critical and popular demand, Playwrights Horizons has announced a second extension of their hit world premiere production of A Life, a new play by Obie Award winner Adam Bock (A Small Fire and The Drunken City at Playwrights, The Receptionist, The Thugs, Swimming in the Shallows).

The world premiere of Jon Robin Baitz's 'Vicuña,' directed by Robert Egan, opened this Sunday, October 30, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre. Performances for 'Vicuña' continue through November 20. The cast includes Linda Gehringer, Brian George, Harry Groener, Ramiz Monsef and Samantha Sloyan.
