Today at Goodspeed's 9th annual Festival of New Musicals, the two-time Tony Award-winning theatre announced plans for the production of a new musical, The Circus in Winter. Featuring a Book by Hunter Foster and Beth Turcotte and Music and Lyrics by Ben Clark, The Circus in Winter is inspired by the acclaimed novel of the same name by Cathy Day. The production will run this fall at The Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Connecticut, Goodspeed's home for new musicals.

WickedGreen Productions introduces a one night only benefit concert, Party Worth Crashing. Featuring (with exclusive permission) the music of Broadway's hottest composing duo, Kerrigan & Lowdermilk, this extraordinary musical event will raise funds for the West Bloomfield High School MIFA Program and allow current and former students to perform along side seasoned industry professionals.

West End stars Julie Atherton, Daniel Boys, Chloe Hart, Stuart Matthew Price and Lauren Samuels join Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk for their three-event weekend on 8 and 9 February 2014 at the St James Studio.

Goodspeed Musicals' Board of Trustees announced today that a change in leadership will occur at the theatre after the 2014 season. Michael Price, who has led the organization for 45 years, has decided to retire from the position of Executive Director at the end of 2014 but will remain active with Goodspeed in advisory and fundraising roles through 2016.

The Ninth Annual Goodspeed Festival of New Musicals, produced by Goodspeed Musicals' Max Showalter Center for Education in Musical Theatre, kicks off its much-anticipated three day festival of brand new works on Friday, January 17, at the Goodspeed Opera House with a staged reading of the timely musical Adam Lives. On Saturday, January 18, the musical fantasy A Proper Place debuts. On the final day of the festival, the unconventional Theory of Relativity by the team who wrote the Goodspeed and Broadway tuner The Story of My Life will be presented. Tickets are $15 each for one show, $10 each for students. Knowing how many shows are put up between the main stage and Norma Terris season and how many actors/creative teams/technicians are used for each production, can anyone guess how many people took over LCT that exciting Monday night? Who said that?! Yes, you are right...over 500 people, representing 120 shows, spanning all 50 years, were in attendance to catch up and celebrate the greatness that Goodspeed Musicals has meant to the musical theatre world. If you grew up loving musicals, knew cast members from every Broadway show from 1990 on up and playing your cast recording CD's until they skipped, you would have been a pig in...well, you know what.

Goodspeed Musicals has put together an incredible cast for Snapshots: A Musical Scrapbook a heartwarming, multi-decade musical about the tribulations and triumphs of love featuring Stephen Schwartz's beloved songs from his most popular Broadway musicals including Pippin, Wicked and Godspell. This captivating new work conceived by Michael Scheman and book writer David Stern will run through November 17 at The Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn. ­- Goodspeed's home for developing fresh, innovative, and original new musicals. This all-new production of the beloved musical that Goodspeed sent to Broadway in 1991 will run through December 1 at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Conn. Goodspeed Musicals will be holding auditions for instrumentalists on Saturday, November 23rd at the McMillian Rehearsal Studio, in East Haddam, CT. The goal of these auditions is to develop more depth for the Norma Terris Theatre pit. Appointments are being made for bass, guitar, percussion, reed doublers (flute, clarinet & saxophones), trumpet, trombone, violin, cello, French horn and harp players.
