BWW Reviews: The Minnesota Fringe Festival Delivers an Amazing Smorgasbord of Theater

Helly my Broadway World Minneapolis friends. I know it's been a while since I've shared anything with you, but that's because I've been all-consumed by the 174-show 11-day festival that is the Minnesota Fringe. If you have not yet sampled from this glorious smorgasbord, don't worry, the fest continues through August 9 with 4-7 shows offered each day at 15 venues in Minneapolis, plus 9 site-specific shows. Believe me, I understand that this can be overwhelming, but I'm here to help. Read on to see a list of my 10 favorite shows of the Fringe so far. Now get out there, open your eyes and your heart and your mind, and see some of the beautiful, challenging, hilarious, disturbing, silly, profound, amazing theater that this festival has to offer.
GOODNIGHT MOON Opens at Stages Theatre Company Tonight

Stages Theatre Company opens Goodnight Moon: The Musical tonight. The classic Margaret Wise Brown story book leaps off of the page and on to the stage. Goodnight Moon runs JANUARY 23, 2015 - FEBRUARY 16, 2015. A return engagement for the little bunny who wants to put off going to sleep for as long as possible. Margaret Wise Brown's 65 year old book has entertained four generations of little ones. The pictures on the wall, the toys in their box, and the moon itself all become characters in this magical production. Be sure to read the book before seeing the play.
Illusion Theater's 26th Annual Fresh Ink Series Set for Now thru 7/28

Fresh Ink, Illusion's annual summer series focusing on new plays, gives space for artists to develop their creative pieces and try their works-in-progress in front of audiences. For three weekends in July, emerging and established playwrights explore new ground, with a different play on stage each weekend. Now in its 26th year, Fresh Ink has presented more than 120 plays, with many going on to become full-length productions.
