Following its recent critically acclaimed world premiere at The Lowry, casting is announced for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe run of the stage adaptation of Nigel Slater's best-selling memoir Toast, playing as part of the Traverse Festival 2018 from Tuesday 7 - Sunday 26 August.

Today Frantic Assembly announces its tour dates of The Unreturning, a brand new co-production with Theatre Royal Plymouth. Telling the interwoven stories of three men coming home from war, this new work by Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting winner Anna Jordan will be directed by Frantic Assembly associate director Neil Bettles and marks the 10th anniversary of Frantic Assembly's award-winning Ignition training programme. The Unreturning will have its world premiere at Theatre Royal Plymouth on 20 September 2018 before playing at various venues across the UK until 16 March 2019. Additional tour dates will be announced soon.

The Traverse Theatre is excited to announce the final additions to the Traverse Festival 2018 programme - including, in what is Scotland's Year of Young People 2018, Festival favourite Breakfast Plays: Youthquake, pairing three young Scottish playwrights from our Traverse Young Writers' group with three leading British writers. The Traverse Theatre is excited to announce the full programme for Traverse 1 during Traverse Festival 2018. A collection of five vibrant, compelling and deeply human works, taking in a teenage girl's coming-of-age tale from schoolgirl to indie rock star (What Girls Are Made Of); a childhood remembered through taste and smell (Nigel Slater's 'Toast'); a fearless exploration of race relations (Underground Railroad Game); the state and future of the NHS (Check Up: Our NHS at 70); and a haunting vision of ruthless state control (Meek). 

Casting has been announced for the World Premiere of Great Apes from the novel by Will Self; reimagined for the stage by Patrick Marmion. It is a raucous, surreal modern satire that mixes Self's famously rich language with subtle simian movement and vocalisations to create a theatrical 'Planet of the Apes' crossed with 'Gulliver's Travels'. With set and costume design by Sarah Beaton, movement by Jonnie Riordan, lighting by Matt Haskins and sound by Dan Balfour.

Lowry arts centre in Salford celebrates its 18th birthday in 2018 and will mark the milestone through its biennial Week 53 festival, which will have a 'Coming of Age' theme.
