Independent Spirit Award winning producer Susan Johnson of BRAVEART FILMS will make her feature directorial debut backed by veteran producers Suzanne Farwell and Susan Cartsonis with an adaptation of critically acclaimed novel Carrie Pilby by Caren Lissner. Farwell is the long-time collaborator of Nancy Meyers and Co-Producer of SOMETHING?S GOTTA GIVE and Executive Producer of THE HOLIDAY and IT?S COMPLICATED, and Cartsonis is Producer of WHAT WOMEN WANT, WHERE THE HEART IS, AQUAMARINE, BEASTLY and Executive Producer of NO RESERVATIONS. The three filmmakers met a decade ago during the production of WHAT WOMEN WANT. The team has now launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to make the independent film in 2014. Kickstarter has become a life-saving platform for independent filmmakers, and this campaign will be Johnson?s third following two successful campaigns last year.

A&E Network will premiere the new original scripted drama series 'Bates Motel' from executive producers Carlton Cuse ('Lost') and Kerry Ehrin ('Friday Night Lights') on Monday, March 18 at 10 PM ET/PT, it was announced today by Bob DeBitetto, President and GM of A&E Network and Bio Channel. 'Bates Motel' is a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film 'Psycho,' and promises to give viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates' psyche unravels through his teenage years. Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory of Norman Bates and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is. The series stars Academy Award nominee Vera Farmiga ('Up in the Air,' 'The Departed'), Freddie Highmore ('Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,' 'Finding Neverland'), Max Thieriot ('Disconnect'), Olivia Cooke ('Blackout') and Nicola Peltz ('The Last Airbender'). Season one also co-stars Nestor Carbonell ('Lost,' 'The Dark Knight Rises') and Mike Vogel ('Pan Am').

TRANSFORMERS 4 director Michael Bay has reportedly gotten underway in casting for the upcoming flick. This week, BroadwayWorld reported that Mark Wahlberg had officially signed on in what's being billed as a 'reboot' of the series. And today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Bay has also begun screen testing actors for the two young male and female leads - including WEEDS and Broadway veteran Hunter Parrish.

Nickelodeon's 23rd Annual Kids' Choice Awards (KCAs) hosted by Kevin James slimed its way to stand as the second biggest KCAs ever in the show's 23-year history, averaging 7.6 million total viewers (P2+) on Saturday, March 27, (8-9:30 p.m. ET/PT). With kids, the live telecast scored 10.5/3.7 million K2-11.
