HAIRSPRAY makes its Denver regional debut at the Arvada Center and follows the crazy adventures of Tracy Turnblad, a girl with a big heart, big hair and big dreams of integration!
The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities has announced Jim J. Bullock will star in the upcoming production of Hairspray. Known for his work on Broadway, Off-Broadway, LA Theater and Television, including the series Too Close for Comfort and The New Hollywood Squares, Jim previously performed the role of Wilbur Turnblad on Broadway. This time Jim takes the Arvada Center stage as the favorite 'Mother of the 50's forced into the 60's', Edna Turnblad. This fully staged regional production of Hairspray opens June 21 and runs through July 17, 2011.
If most of the cast survives, and there's no 'King' in the title, then you must be watching one of William Shakespeare's comedies. THE MERCHANT OF VENICE is one such example. And, while it may not be as highly regarded as some of his other work, it's an amusing and intriguing play nonetheless.
THE MERCHANT OF VENICE opens St. Louis Shakespeare's 25th anniversary season, directed by Jerry Vogel. MERCHANT runs July 17 through 26, 2009, Friday and Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 2pm, and Thursday at 7:30pm. At the Grandel Theatre, 3610 Grandel Square.
In 2009, St. Louis Shakespeare celebrates its 25th year presenting classical theatre in St. Louis. Join us for a season of comedy, tragedy, romance and a thrilling pirate yarn! SLS' 25th season runs from July to November 2009 and includes three plays by Shakespeare and one non-Shakespearean classic.
