Circle Theatre Announces Cast and Creative Team for David Ives' VENUS IN FUR

Circle Theatre is proud to announce the full cast/creative team for David Ives' dark comedy Venus in Fur, directed by Charlotte Drover, February 18 - March 19 at The Heartland Studio in Rogers Park, 7016 N. Glenwood Ave. Previews areSaturday, Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2:30 p.m. Press are invited to attend Monday, Feb. 20 or Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. Industry Nights are Mondays: February 27, March 6 and March 13 at 8 p.m. The performance schedule is Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $28 and available at CircleTheatreChicago.org.

'The Showtune Mosh Pit' for June 24th, 2015

The latest in unauthorized gossip and buzz from the heart of Chicago's showtune video bars, and musical theater news from Chicago to Broadway. 'On Your Feet!' and 'City Of Angels' rake in the reviews, while Bette plays the UC. The Jeff Awards stir things up, 'Louis & Keely' and 'Sounds So Sweet' evoke mid-century entertainment, Waa-Mu takes on the Berlin Olympics, a new Chicago-based revue in Edgewater, 'Chaperone' and 'Music Man' in the suburbs, 'The Boy From Oz' in a local production, 'Matilda' will tour, 'Amazing Grace' sets a Broadway run, and Circle Theatre re-emerges. Whew!

Circle Theatre Relaunches with New Artistic Team

CIRCLE THEATRE has announced a new artistic team as it prepares to launch into its first full season in over a year. Circle Theatre began in Oak Park, IL back in 1985 by Karen Skinner, Wayne Buidens and Joseph Bass, where it produced multiple world premieres and earned over 40 Joseph Jefferson Awards in its 28-year residency. After officially transitioning to the city proper in 2013 with the remount of its Jeff Award-winning When the Rain Stops Falling (director: John Gawlik), Circle Theatre produced two more musicals (Death Takes a Holiday and Edges) before taking a break from producing to re-group as an artistic ensemble.

Circle Theatre to Host New Works Festival, 8/10-11

On the heels of Jeff Award success with Best Play winner When the Rain Stops Falling, Circle Theatre and Stage 773 are hosting a festival of New Works first time being heard in Chicago on August 10th and 11th.

Lifeline's THE EMPEROR'S NEW THREADS: A FASHION STATEMENT Extends

To accommodate extraordinary ticket demand, Lifeline Theatre will add four additional performances to the run of its family musical, The Emperor's New Threads: A Fashion Statement, based on the folktale The Emperor's New Clothes by Hans Christian Andersen. The additional performances are Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

By the author of LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION!, MASTER CLASS and RAGTIME, Terrence McNally, Circle Theatre's production of THE RITZ opened on February 15th.When straight businessman Gaetano Proclo discovers he's being pursued by the mob, he unwittingly takes cover in a gay bathhouse with an increasingly bizarre and endearing cast of characters. He takes on the guise of a Broadway producer to further hide his identity and farcical merriment ensues. Check out photos from opening night below!
