David Zippel Directs NAMT's SHOW OFF! Benefit Concert Tonight

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) will present SHOW OFF!, a benefit concert celebrating 25 years of NAMT's Annual Festival of New Musicals tonight, October 20 at 7pm at New York University's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place at Washington Square).

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has chosen Abrams Artists Agent Beth Blickers, OBIE and Drama Desk Award-winning actress Donna Lynne Champlin, Tony Award and Drama Desk Award-nominated actor Hunter Foster, Tony Award and Drama Desk Award-nominated composer and lyricist Amanda Green, Tony Award-nominated director Thomas Kail, Associate Producer of the Old Globe Eric Louie, Outer Critics Circle-nominated director and choreographer Josh Prince, Tony Award and Drama Desk nominated actor and writer Tony Sheldon, Tony Award-nominated and Grammy-winning composer Lucy Simon, and two-time Tony Award-winning actor Michael Cerveris to serve as the Grand Jury of this year's Next Link project.

Steve Blanchard, Nancy Opel and More Set for Amas' BLEEDING LOVE Reading Tonight

Amas Musical Theatre will present three free staged readings of 'Bleeding Love, a post-apocalyptic new musical comedy', book by Jason Schafer, music by Arthur Lafrentz Bacon, lyrics by Harris Doran, directed by Michael Bush. The readings will take place tonight, October 15th at 3:00pm and 7:00pm, and Wednesday, October 16th at 1pm at The Theatre at the 14th Street Y, 314 East 14th Street.

Big Dance Theater's ICH, KÜRBISGEIST Presented By New York Live Arts, 10/31-11/5

New York, NY, October 14, 2013 – New York Live Arts presents Big Dance Theater's (BDT) Ich, Kürbisgeist, October 31 – November 2, andNovember 5 – 9 at 7:30pm, and November 1, 2, 8 and 9 at 10:00pm, as part of its signature program, the Replay Series. An “impressively inscrutable” (The New York Times) work directed by Paul Lazar, co-directed and choreographed by Annie-B Parson and written by Sibyl Kempson, a playwright of works “authentic, appealing, and…thrill[ing]” (Village Voice), Ich Kürbisgeist returns to the stage just in time for Halloween.

Alan Gilbert Leads the NY Phil in Britten's 100th Birthday Celebration, 11/21

Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in a celebration of the centennial of English composer, conductor, and pianist Benjamin Britten. The program will include Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings, featuring tenor Paul Appleby and Philharmonic Principal Horn Philip Myers, and Britten's Spring Symphony, with soprano Kate Royal (in her Philharmonic debut), mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke (Philharmonic subscription debut), tenor Paul Appleby, New York Choral Artists directed by Joseph Flummerfelt, and Brooklyn Youth Chorus directed by Dianne Berkun-Menaker. The concerts, which include a performance on the composer's 100th birthday, November 22, will take place Thursday, November 21, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, November 22 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, November 23 at 8:00 p.m.

FABnyc to Host Bi-Annual Load OUT!, 11/2

On Saturday, November 2, 2013, Fourth Arts Block (FABnyc) will host its seventh Load OUT! - a twice yearly 'riot' of repurposing and recycling activities. FABnyc will gather gently used materials from arts organizations and other donors throughout the East Village/Lower East Side for this one-of-a-kind extravaganza, taking place at 11 East 3rd Street from 12-3PM.

Roundabout Extends BAD JEWS Through 12/22

Expanded Series of Lectures, Conversations, and Events Begins in October at Jewish Museum

The Jewish Museum's diverse program offerings in October include gallery talks with artists Elaine Reichek and the avant-garde fashion collective threeASFOUR; an author talk with feminist writer and artist Helene Aylon; a behind-the-scenes tour of threeASFOUR: MER KA BA with Assistant Curator Rebecca Shakyin; and a re-examination of Karl Marx's philosophy in a discussion moderated by communications scholar Liel Leibovitz. These programs are part of an expanded series of lectures, conversations, and events presented by the Museum throughout the fall.
